POSITION OVERVIEW:We are seeking a Trusts and Estates Paralegal with 3-5 years of experience in a similar role to support our thriving trusts and estates practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong drafting skills, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to handle a diverse range of responsibilities with precision and efficiency. A writing sample will be required as part of the application process to assess the candidate's drafting abilities.
ESTIMATED PAY RANGE:
$38-42/hour
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Collaborate with attorneys, partners and others on the Legal Support Team to assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents related to trust and estates matters, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
- Conduct legal research and analysis under the supervision of attorneys, gathering relevant case law, statutes, and regulations to support client matters and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Assist with estate administration tasks, such as asset inventory, beneficiary identification, and preparation of probate filings and estate tax returns.
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and other third parties to gather information and documentation necessary for estate planning and administration matters.
- Manage and organize case files, correspondence, and other documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and court appearances, maintaining calendars and assisting with scheduling as needed.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including preparing engagement letters, billing statements, and other client communications
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Certification: Paralegal Certification
Minimum Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience working as a trusts and estates paralegal in a law firm or legal department, with a demonstrated understanding of estate planning and administration procedures.
- Strong drafting skills with the ability to prepare and review legal documents accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
- Proficiency in legal research methods and resources, including LexisNexis, Westlaw, and online databases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
WORKPLACE LOCATION REQUIREMENTSRequires in-office work at the NYC office daily.
