Salary: The salary range is $64,540 - $108,451. Starting salary is based on professional work experience, qualifications, and related legislative/government experience.
Telework: This position works on-site in the Minnesota Senate Building and Capitol during the legislative session. When the legislature is not in session, flexible hybrid options may be available.
Days of Work/Hours: Monday-Friday/8am-4:30pm. This position requires long and irregular hours and the ability to meet tight deadlines during the legislative session, including evening and weekend work. This position requires travel during odd calendar years. Additional paid time off will be available.

Position SummaryThe Committee Administrator works strategically and collaboratively with members, staff, the caucus, and the public, advancing integrity, openness, and respect for all participating in the work of this office and the Minnesota Senate.
An ideal candidate will have experience working with the legislative process. We seek someone who can provide legislative expertise and support relating to committee areas during session.
During the interim of odd calendar years, the Committee Administrator for Capital Investment will be tasked with coordinating and attending tours for the committee across the state. The purpose of the tours is to create a familiarity with capital budget project requests of local governments and state agencies.
View the position description here.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, or related area of study.
OR
Two (2) years of experience in state or local government, public policy, government affairs, research, policy analysis, or related.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process.
- Ability to manage time, operate efficiently, meet deadlines for all committee work, maintain multiple projects simultaneously, and deal with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong oral and written communication skills sufficient to prepare complete, comprehensive reports, and make effective oral and written presentations.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with legislators, legislative staff, constituents, and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications - Previous experience working with the legislative process.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Calendar, Zoom, and other virtual meeting programs.
- Event planning or conference coordination experience.
- Familiarity with infrastructure and/or the capital budget process related to state borrowing for investment.
