Applications Engineer - Principal
Job Description:
Our customer applications require high speed (GHz) ICs for optical media access and signal transport. These applications are characterized by international development, fast design cycles, and demanding analog performance.
Specific Responsibilities:
Specialize in MACOM’s High-Performance Analog ICs and their specific applications. Provide expert level engineering support to customers, sales, FAEs, and marketing. Work with design engineering to produce product documentation and applications collateral. As a product specialist, solve challenging problems through analysis and hands-on lab work.
Qualifications / Skills:
- A BSEE or similar degree and 10 years of experience in a related position are required, or MSEE degree with 4 years of experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment and strong communications skills are essential.
- Solid working knowledge in high performance analog applications is required.
- Extrapolating the measured results to circuit analysis is crucial to success.
- A background in Design, Product, Evaluation, or Test Engineering in a mixed signal or analog environment is considered beneficial to a successful candidate.
- Lab experience for validation and customer module testing should include advanced test and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, DCA, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and BERTs.
- Specific experience with high speed electrical or optical transmission interfaces, highly desirable.
- Creating and managing customer related documentation.
- A familiarity with optical transmission construction such as 400G, 800G, 1.6T SR, DR transceiver modules and associated standards is highly desirable.
- Familiar with simulation tools such ADS, PCB tools such as PADS, Altium, Allegro.
