Quality Assurance Thermal Spray Technician We are looking for a Thermal Spray Technician for our Westbury NY facility. In this role you will, operate under the jurisdiction of the Quality Assurance team to ensure the performative quality of manufactured powder products. The person in this role conducts thermal spray testing in accordance with internal specifications. Quality spray testing is conducted on powders produced in Materials Production and Engineering departments that are required for product release. Spray testing support is also required for analyzing customer complaints and other quality related checks. Your Responsibilities: Operate thermal spray equipment related to Air Plasma Spray (APS), High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF), and Flame Spray processes. Conduct hands-on work including running thermal spray control systems, maintaining thermal spray equipment, rebuilding thermal spray guns, setting up testing fixtures, setting up robotics programs, sandblasting, and handling of thermal spray powders. May also be assigned work in the Metallography lab where necessary (Rockwell hardness testing, metallographic preparation, optical/SEM microscopy, and more). Must maintain all safety, productivity, and quality requirements. Safety Responsible for ensuring the proper and safe use of equipment within the laboratory at all times. This includes wearing a respirator, safety glasses, and hearing protection where required. Must be able to safely handle gas cylinders. Must be able to identify and take corrective steps to prevent an unsafe working environment within the laboratory. Productivity Manage workflow through the laboratory. Must communicate well with colleagues to plan for best workflow and ensure that time commitments are met. Ensure equipment is kept in good order to minimize down-time. Quality Must keep accurate documentation in accordance with internal procedures. Must conduct spray tests in accordance with internal specifications Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions Your Profile: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in related discipline preferred. Knowledge of thermal spray process is a preferred. Prior laboratory experience is preferred. Experience in a manufacturing, welding, machining, or related environment preferred. Capable of using machine shop equipment and hand tools. Must be able to follow a variety of work instructions Must be very detail-oriented and have good observational and problem-solving skills Must have good organizational skills Must have good communication skills. Understanding of standard laboratory safety procedures in the handling of dangerous chemicals and materials. Working proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software (Excel, Word, Outlook). Our commitment is your success! Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $55,000 to $68,000 per year. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range.
