The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) offers the position of a full-time World Para Powerlifting Competitions Manager (f/m/x) in a multi-cultural team at the IPC Headquarters in Bonn, Germany, starting in early 2025.

ROLE
World Para Powerlifting (WPPO) is the department within the IPC responsible for the administration and growth of Para powerlifting worldwide. Para powerlifting is one of the biggest sports within the Paralympic Movement in terms of the number of participating athletes and countries. It was included in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, in 1964 and has remained on the programme ever since, growing into one of the biggest and most attractive sports. WPPO aims to inspire Para powerlifting from around the world through opportunities to develop and perform on the international stage.
The World Para Powerlifting Competitions Manager (f/m/x) is accountable to the Head of World Para Powerlifting. This position is responsible for driving and developing the WPPO competition portfolio and associated projects to enhance the high performance, entertainment and commercial value of the competitions.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing and overseeing all the administrative functions required to deliver the WPPO competition portfolio, including competition approvals and contract agreement with Local Organising Committees (LOCs).
- Reporting regularly on the progress of major competitions planning, preparation operations and evaluation to the Head of WPPO.
- Developing and maintaining operation requirements and guidelines for championships and competitions and managing knowledge transfer with existing and future LOCs of WPPO major events.
- Developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and co-ordinating with LOCs for the efficient planning and successful delivery of WPPO events in accordance with contractual milestones and deliverables, ensuring continued progress and successful management.
- Managing, monitoring and supporting sport technical delivery of WPPO major Championships and Regional Games.
- Managing the qualification criteria and entry standards for WPPO competitions.
- Developing the annual competition budget.
- Providing expertise and support to other sports projects and areas as required.
CORE REQUIREMENTS

- Relevant experience or equivalent university degree in sport management, event management, or similar.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an international, multi-cultural environment, with respect to and in the spirit of collaboration.
- A strong work ethic with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude, humility, and a passion for providing Para athletes with opportunities to showcase their abilities.
- Excellent organisational & administrative skills, and able to work across multiple projects and maintain deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in managing/leading staff and volunteers, and able to foster a positive and cooperative environment when working under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Confident and able to maintain a positive attitude when under pressure.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in major Games and / or events, sport/event management environment (for example: Organising Committee, NOC/NPC, Sport Federation, current or former athlete).
- Proficiency in using MS Office (experience in event/sport-related programmes, databases and systems is an advantage).
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, CAD, or other design programmes.
- Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written skills (knowledge of other languages is an advantage).
