- You will be working with a remote DevSecOps team based in Arlington, VA. The team provides operational support for the Biometric Collection Capability (BC2) comprised of biometric collection systems and servers in AWS GovCloud. The team shares a military mindset with a devotion to both professional behavior and dedication to mission success.

- This is an opportunity to support the Army's Near Real Time Identity Operations (NRTIO) under the Biometric Collection Capability (BC2) contract for PM DoD Biometrics ( https://peoiews.army.mil/pm-ts/). As a key member of the BC2 engineering team, you will work in a DevSecOps environment to ensure 100% availability of all biometric systems and data to end users. The successful candidate will oversee the integration, maintenance, and monitoring of software of the Biometric System of Systems capability, ensure constant availability of all technical resources, and provide technical direction to IT support staff. It's a high-level role of eliciting/divining/negotiating/arbitrating/influencing stakeholder requirements/concerns, and developing the architecture and roadmap of biometric systems.
- With a strong IT baseline, the candidate will gain detailed knowledge on biometric software and hardware and deploying DevSecOps solutions to the AWS GovCloud.
Typical Day: The typical workday will include a daily stand-up meeting and working on software engineering tasks and requirements. Work will be performed during weekday business hours. Occasional patching may be required during early evening hours and support for emergency maintenance if required.
Tasks: - Assist in identifying and replacing legacy NRTIO software (e.g., bash scripts, Java applications, CLI-tools, etc.) with updated and more maintainable software and micro-services where applicable.
- Provide general software development support as directed by the needs of the customer.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on automation and reliability.
- Develop, maintain, and scale infrastructure to support both software development and deployment needs.
- Maintain existing COTS software used within the NRTIO environment - including working with software vendors directly to facilitate easier maintenance for the future.
- Respond to critical system incidents as needed outside of standard business hours to ensure high system availability.
- Participate in a daily standup meeting and engage with the NRTIO team's Kanban board to track work being completed.
Required Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
- DoD 8570 - IAT Level II Certification (e.g. Security+ CE) - if no certification, must be able to attain certification within 90 days of offer acceptance (exam fee and training materials will be paid for, or provided by I3).
- Advanced proficiency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server
- 3-5 years of software development experience in C#
- 3-5 years of experience with .NET website development and REST API
- 3-5 years of experience working with relational databases
- Experience working with RabbitMQ Message Bus, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL and IIS/NGINX web servers
- Experience with Docker containerization for application deployment
- Familiarity with AWS Cloud Computing Environment
Desired Qualifications: - Education: CS or IT-related Bachelor's Degree.
- Familiarity with code versioning tools, particularly Git.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation tasks.
- Understanding of application-level security.
- Experience in proactive system monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana) and strategies.
- Knowledge of logging and log analysis systems (e.g., ELK stack).
- Proficiency in Java and/or C# programming, with the ability to understand, maintain, and contribute to applications built on these languages and their respective frameworks.
- Experience with creating and managing microservices.
- Understanding Experience with ANSI/NIST ITL and DoD Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS) v1.2 and 4.1.
- Jira experience.
