You will then be able to attach your Resume/CV, as well as all other supporting documentation in the "My Experience" section of your application.Job DescriptionSUMMARYReporting to the Director of Data and Technology, the Data Analyst has primary focus on the data analysis, gathering, cleansing, and reporting needs of the Enrollment Management division consisting of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar, Office of Global Engagement, the Office of Summer, Winter Session, Red Hawk Central and more. The Data Analyst partners with each department to understand their business processes and daily operational needs to know how data may be used to support each area.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Gather requirements from requests for reports and analysis.Manage cyclical updates & distribution of existing reports.Use SQL to build queries for data extraction or use in reports.Build reports based on queries, including aggregate statistics, trends, or detailed lists.Modify existing reports to accommodate changing needs.Work with the Office of Information Technology to develop additional data sources asneeded.Assist with the implementation of new technologies.Review data for accuracy and consistency.Write up results and observations from analytical projects.Gather data from sources outside of MSU, such as government organizations.Gather information about best practices at other institutions.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.A minimum of three years of experience in a position where data consumption or creation was central to the role or major in Data AnalyticsAn understanding of basic statistics.Experience with at least one report authoring tool such as Cognos, Crystal Reports, SQL,Tableau, or similar.PREFERRED:A Bachelor’s (or higher) degree from a program focusing on either data analysis, or statistics.Experience in a role with data analysis & interpretation responsibilities.Experience with statistical methods such as regression & correlation tests.Experience in a higher education environment and/or Institutional Research office.Experience with a programming language other than SQL.Demonstrated the ability for creative problem solving.PROCEDURE FOR CANDIDACYApplicants should include a resume and cover letter describing how their background, skills and education match the needs of the University.
