Citi Ventures invests across fintech, broadly defined, and enterprise software. The Citi Ventures Fintech team is seeking a Senior Vice President. We are looking for highly motivated individual to (a) develop investment theses, (b) source and execute investments, (c) monitor and support portfolio companies, (d) drive commercializations, and (e) help build our franchise and develop talent. Our engagement with distinctive startups and with Citi colleagues and clients is expected to help such startups refine their product roadmaps and/or enter into commercial relationships with Citi and/or its clients, Citi stay at the cutting edge of innovation, and Citi Ventures generate outsized financial returns. The role can be in NY or London.
Responsibilities:
Develop investment theses
- Lead identification of internal business priorities
- Synthesize proposed investment theses/landscapes for prioritization by MD or Director and, once prioritized, lead the generation of such investment theses/landscapes
- Lead development and filtering of pipeline for priority trends
Source and execute investments in distinctive fintech startups
- Actively source investing opportunities leveraging internal and external networks and stating if related to “priority themes” or opportunistic
- Conduct initial deal filtering/share details/articulate POV
- Contribute to juniors’ deal filtering
- Execute new strategic investments: due diligence, documentation, internal approvals; lead follow-ons
- Maintain high quality analysis, including supervision of junior output
- Support negotiation and compliant transaction structuring
Monitor and support portfolio companies
- Conduct portfolio management of existing investments, including support for governance, administration and portfolio lifecycle events.
- Lead internal control function engagement for covered investments including quarterly risk and valuations process.
Drive commercializations
- Monitor and drive commercialistion of covered portfolio companies
- Provide commercisalisation support & guidance to portfolio companies
- Support cross-Citi commercialisations
Help build our franchise and develop talent
- Establish business relationships across multiple product lines, including acting as ‘lead contact’ for some sub-products
- Develop working knowledge of most relevant business lines, plus more in-depth knowledge across 1-2
- Build relationships and leverage broader innovation functions and infrastructure
- Broaden external network across fintech companies, investors and ecosystem partners; lead Citi contact for some relationships
- Represent Citi externally in client, partner and fintech meetings
- Take up presentation opportunities on panels / roundtables
- Build strong relationships with other investing team members
- Manage junior team on investment proposals
- Support and mentor team AVP & analysts
- Develop and deliver team training material
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience of fintech-focused venture investing at a venture capital/growth equity firm or in a corporate venture investing group, in US or UK
- Prior experience in Tech/FIG-focused investment banking or strategy consulting is a plus
- Drive and ability to collaborate in teams and work independently
- Ability to articulate and debate opinions on potential investments
- Ability to navigate a large financial services organization and to engage Citi execs and clients
- Ability to supervise, mentor, manage and develop talent
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree from a top college or university, preferably in Economics, Engineering, or other analytical disciplines

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$163,600.00 – $245,400.00
