Do you want to join a fast-growing climate tech startup with real impact?
About Coulomb
At Coulomb AI, we envision a future powered by the seamless integration of AI and Battery Technologies, creating a powerful synergy to combat climate change. We build category-leading software that can significantly improve battery lifespan and performance by employing advanced predictive analytics, real-time monitoring, and adaptive battery management algorithms.
Coulomb is headquartered in San Francisco with its development and research center in Bangalore. Founders Khushboo Shrivastava and Santanu Mondal are alumni of IIT Bombay and have first-hand experience working on first-generation Electric Vehicles at General Motors. We are backed by some of the best climate tech investors in the world, including Y Combinator, Harvard Management Seed Capital, CSVE Ventures, and prominent Silicon Valley-based Angels.
We already have a global presence with customers in 5 countries across UK, US, APAC and India
Yet, we’re still at the start of our journey, and we want exceptional people to join us!
About the Role
What it means to be an early engineer
Being part of the founding team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of sustainable energy. Together, we’re going to face the hardest technical challenges this journey has to offer head-on. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrochemical modeling and a passion for advancing battery technology. You will be responsible for developing and implementing models to predict battery performance, lifespan, and safety under various conditions.
As a Battery Modeling Engineer, here’s what you’ll be doing
- Develop and validate electrochemical models for battery cells and packs
- Simulate battery performance, aging, and thermal behavior using advanced modeling techniques
- Collaborate with experimental teams to design and interpret experiments that validate model predictions
- Analyze results from simulations and experiments to identify key performance parameters and degradation mechanisms
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications to communicate findings to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Contribute to patent filings and support intellectual property development
We are excited about you because you have:
- Proven 3+ years of experience in developing models for lithium-ion, solid-state, or next-generation batteries
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Physics, or a related field
- Extensive experience with electrochemical modeling and simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, MATLAB, Python)
- Track record of publications and presentations in relevant scientific conferences and journals.
You’ll be a great fit if:
- Previously worked in a startup environment and have a high degree of ownership and appetite for ambiguity
- Like being a part of a high-performing team focussed on fast-paced execution at the same time detail-oriented
- A relentless desire to solve customer problems and chase down answers
