Position Summary:LEE is seeking a dynamic and visionary Vice President of Member Marketing who will establish and implement a strategic vision to attract members, grow their engagement, and empower them to take civic action in their communities. The VP will partner closely with other leaders and teams to strengthen LEE's ability to reach members, personalize content, and capture insights about marketing outcomes. The VP, Member Marketing will report to the President and will serve on LEE's senior leadership team. They will lead a team of marketing professionals including content creators, multi-channel marketers, and an analytics lead. Close collaborators include members of the platform team and those who lead member programming.
The ideal candidate will be a values-oriented executive who approaches their work through an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will collaborate across the organization for the success of LEE and our members. As a high visibility leader at LEE, the VP should have a deep personal and professional connection with LEE's core values, and be able to inspire others around LEE's mission.
Position Location: Flexible (Virtual)
Travel Requirements: 30-40%; travel frequency may vary/increase during the first year of employment or given organizational priorities and meetings
Responsibilities: Member Marketing Strategy and Execution (40%)
- Establish a compelling vision and strategy for member marketing, with input from senior leaders, that engages LEE members, develops their civic leadership, and drives impact in communities
- Set ambitious multi-year member marketing goals that support LEE's mission, vision, and overall strategy and member impact
- Execute impactfully against the vision and strategy to deliver measurable results in improving LEE's ability to reach, engage, and convert current and prospective members
- Maintain and strengthen LEE's member-facing brand identity, ensuring consistent, mission and values-aligned messages across all channels
- Integrate member outcomes and marketing performance data to evaluate effectiveness of outcomes and drive changes to marketing strategy
Organizational Partnership (30%)
- As part of the leadership team, collaborate with other LEE VPs to identify opportunities for improvements and innovations in engaging, inspiring, and supporting members
- Partner with member-facing teams and organizational partners to align marketing strategy with member registration and engagement goals
- Contribute marketing leadership toward the cross-matrix work of improving member data quality, evolving digital tracking of member journey, and optimizing LEE's platform offerings
- Contribute to the Platform team's work to enable deeper member insights, including adoption and evolution of LEE's customer data platform and marketing tech stack
Team and Organizational Stewardship (20%)
- Manage a team to deliver high impact results, in coordination with and leveraging all of LEE's assets and teams
- Develop and manage annual budget and strategic goals that are aligned with organizational goals and mission
- Build an inclusive team culture that values diverse perspectives, prioritizes learning, and inspires team members to produce high-quality outputs
- Create new and cultivate existing relationships with external LEE partners to secure additional opportunities for LEE and our members
Special Projects (10%)
- Lead or contribute to projects as needed to accelerate impact
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or commensurate years of work experience (If you do not hold a Bachelor's degree an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required. If you hold an Associate's degree an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.)
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant professional experience including direct marketing in a nonprofit context
- Proven success in developing and executing marketing campaigns, especially through digital marketing channels
- Excellent managerial, interpersonal, and networking skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional relationships
- Analytical mindset and data-driven, strategic approach to marketing
- Demonstrated success in people leadership in a matrixed organization with an ability to manage in multiple functional areas and align messaging across channels
- Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, & inclusion
- Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE's mission and theory of change
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working for a 501(c)(4) nonprofit
- Master's degree in relevant field (e.g., MBA)
- Experience leading teams and individuals in a geographically dispersed work environment
Physical Requirements & Work Demands: - This position is primarily a sedentary role working with colleagues based around the country using remote technologies.
- The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with staff or access office equipment.
- The person in this position will need to have the ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities.
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.

Benefits and PayCompensation for the Vice President role starts at $161,800-$213,400. Pay is competitive and based upon relevant experience and cost of labor for your location. As a national organization, LEE uses a regional cost of labor adjustment (COLA) to help us attract and retain talent across the country.
