Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to drive the development of a productized battery management and control system As part of our Controls team, you will write the software for the control and telemetry of our Multi Day Storage battery system. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!
What you’ll do:
Develop system software on embedded Linux platforms for real time control, connectivity, and telemetry.
Manage the software development and delivery process through bring-up, integration, test and high volume manufacturing.
Write software to interact with the battery systems, power electronics, EMS/SCADA systems, and downstream embedded controllers on site.
Develop observability tools to instrument and understand our deployed software.
Contribute to the unit and integration testing suite, and coordinate with the Software Test team, to allow continuous delivery of high quality software.
Adhere to and raise the bar on the software engineering processes and best practices on the embedded software team.
What you’ll bring:
2+ years of experience in software development in Linux userspace on embedded platforms such as NXP iMX, Qualcomm Snapdragon, Nvidia Jetson or similar ARM Cortex-A or x86 platforms
Strong knowledge of a systems language such as C/C++, Go or Rust
Familiarity to web protocols such as HTTP, MQTT, and GRPC
Familiarity with IoT, virtualization, containers, micro-services, cloud computing, databases, message queues, and observability tools.
Experience with OS fundamentals such as threads, concurrency, exception/panic handling and memory management.
High level of proficiency in Linux with working knowledge of service units (systemd), network configuration, filesystem, shell scripting, kernel configuration and device drivers
Excellent written communication and collaboration skills
