Position Overview
Hadrian’s Quality team is seeking a Machining Quality Specialist / Inspector who is a key player in upholding our commitment to product quality. With an aggressive focus on automation and process excellence, we are looking for someone who thrives in a high-volume, high-mix inspection environment. The Quality Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring that every aspect of our inspection process meets the highest standards of precision and efficiency.
2nd shift hours: 3:30 pm - 12 am
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Inspection Ownership: Take full responsibility for the inspection of full series of units according to the inspection plan. Candidates should expect a a mix of manual inspection, certification / paperwork review, and inspection data review (CMM reports and manual inspection completed by other employees). Coordinate closely with source inspectors to ensure compliance and quality.
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs): Write comprehensive, detailed, and actionable NCRs and own verification of disposition actions (i.e verify that rework output is satisfactory). Provide detailed feedback to CAM and engineering teams to ensure root cause problem solving of issues flagged in inspection.
- Technician Training: Train technicians on both manual and mechanical inspection tools and processes, ensuring high levels of competency across the team.
- Technical Supervision: Oversee technicians performing manual inspections, providing hands-on support as necessary to maintain quality standards. Note that this does not include direct management - Quality Specialists will only ensure that work output is on par with standards.
- New Product Introduction (NPI) : spearhead validation of new processes by providing deep technical feedback to CAM programming, Manufacturing Engineering, and Applications Engineering teams. Quality Specialists will notably be expected to run prove-outs start to finish using programs generated by CMM Programmers, and then own process release to production, monitoring and calibrating approach as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 or more years of inspection experience in fast paced manufacturing environment
- Full proficiency with all hand and mechanical inspection tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrated experience in a high-volume inspection role within aerospace or another industry with stringent tolerance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- PC-DMIS programming experience.
- Aerospace inspection experience
- Machining experience.
- Experience with optical measurement devices (comparator, structured light scanning, optical profilometers) is preferred.
