ABOUT RETOOL
Nearly every company in the world runs on custom software: Gartner estimates that up to 50% of all code is written for internal use. This is the operational software for refunding orders, underwriting loans, onboarding employees, analyzing transactions, and providing customer support. But most companies don’t have adequate resources to properly invest in these tools, leading to a lot of old and clunky internal software or, even worse, users still stuck in manual and spreadsheet flows.
At Retool, we’re on a mission to bring good software to everyone. We’re building a new type of development platform that combines the benefits of traditional software development with a drag-and-drop UI editor and AI, making it dramatically faster to build internal tools. We believe that the future of software development lies in abstracting away the tedious and repetitive tasks developers waste time on, while creating reusable components that act as a force multiplier for future developers and projects. The result is not just productivity, but good software by default. And that’s a mission worth striving for.
Today, our customers span from small startups building their first operational tools to Fortune 500 companies building mission-critical apps for thousands of users across their business. Interested in joining us? Let us know!
WHY WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU:
Retool has expanded rapidly this year and we’re not done yet. We’re exceeding revenue goals, hiring across the business, and are executing in our biggest and best year yet. As we look ahead to next year and all the major milestones, product ships, and new customers we’ll welcome, we need to expand our recruiting team in order to build the teams that sell, implement, and support Retool.
Our sales, support engineering, customer experience, and G&A teams will need to continue to grow as our business does. We’re looking for an early-career recruiter who is excited to partner with a variety of hiring managers, learn from their team members, and make lasting impact on the success and trajectory of Retool.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:
We recruit a bit differently at Retool—recruiters have a seat at the table and operate with what’s best for the business at the forefront. We also optimize for long-term impact versus short-term outcomes. While we focus on our quarterly goals, we also make sure to keep our north star of bringing good software to everyone at the forefront of everything we do.
As a business recruiter joining the team, you’d partner with recruiters, sourcers, and our coordinating function. Our team is small but mighty, and we enjoy collaborating on longer-tail projects, while also making sure we’re making the best hires we can for the business. We’re always down to strategize on closing strategies, sourcing trends we’re seeing in the market, or our recent Spotify listens.
More broadly at Retool, you’ll be partnering with hiring managers who prioritize recruiting. They’ll look to you for your expertise, project management, and execution, and you’ll look to them for their decision-making and partnership. You’ll work with cross-functional teams who place good work above all else, peers who will help you navigate ambiguity and our fast pace, and candidates who are excited to hop on board.
YOUR SKILL SET:
- 1 - 2 years of full-cycle business (sales, G&A, marketing) recruiting experience with a start up (these are both hard requirements)
- Ability to identify, attract, engage, and effectively manage the interview, negotiation, and closing process with a high volume of candidates
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of high-tech (Silicon Valley) ecosystem of startups/companies and ability to use this knowledge to drive positive outcomes in sourcing strategies and hiring
- Proficiency with Greenhouse, Gem, and LinkedIn
- Strong sourcing foundation with the ability to build nuanced/custom searches from scratch
- Desire to work with other team members, but also happy to work autonomously
- BA/BS degree preferred
IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:
- Own the full-cycle recruiting process, from our first touchpoint with candidates to closing them in partnership with org stakeholders
- Build sourced pipelines of candidates, and achieve industry-standard pas-through rates
- Partner with our hiring managers and talent team to identify non-traditional ways to reach out to and attract candidates
- Successfully move candidates through our pipeline and ensure data cleanliness and accuracy.
- Develop relationships with your key stakeholders to ensure success in your role; this includes the talent team, hiring managers, HR/comp, and other cross-functional partners
- Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, from candidates to hiring managers, to staff members
- Creatively close candidates through partnership with your immediate team as well as your interview team
- Consistently hold a business-first mindset when making decisions and coaching candidates and hiring managers alike
- Leverage your recruiting metrics to inform your activity needs, which we’ll look to you to interpret and present (and manage to).
- Support the growth and development of the team by owning the creation and execution of impactful projects and process improvements
- Positively add to our team: listen to learn, supports others, and pitches in when work needs to be done
- Become a power user of our tech stack, from LinkedIn to Gem to Greenhouse
- Contribute to Retool’s mission to build a diverse and performant company
