The company was founded by Matt Gialich and Jose Acain, who have over a decade of experience working in aerospace at NASA, SpaceX, and Virgin Orbit. AstroForge plans to tap into the unlimited amount of resources that exist in space utilizing our small exploration and mining satellites capable of recovering large amounts of rare earth metals per mission.

Job Description:
As an Electrical Engineer at AstroForge, you'll drive innovation by designing cutting-edge avionics systems and PCBs for our spacecraft. Your role will involve avionics, system, and PCB design, component selection, testing, and collaboration. You'll need expertise in power subsystems, high-speed board design, and aerospace practices, including designing for space.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop avionic subsystems, including board design, system design, and avionics subsystem design.
- Create schematic layouts and select components for spacecraft electronic systems.
- Design and layout printed circuit boards (PCBs) for optimal performance and functionality.
- Conduct testing and analysis of electronic systems to ensure reliability and functionality.
- Apply thermal and mechanical knowledge to optimize system performance in space environments.
- Design power subsystems, including power conversion, DC/DC, and battery systems.
- Execute high-speed board design techniques and demonstrate proficiency in PCB layout.
- Handle complex PCB designs with a large number of components.
- Understand avionic subsystem connectivity and protocols such as RS422, I2C, Ethernet, and CAN.
- Adhere to industry-standard protocols and practices for aerospace design.
- Implement design methodologies tailored for space applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in avionics design or a similar role.
- Proficiency in schematic layout and PCB design tools.
- Strong understanding of avionic subsystems and their connectivity.
- Experience with industry-standard protocols and communication interfaces.
- Knowledge of power subsystem design principles, including power conversion and battery systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective coordination and documentation.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy in all tasks.
- Familiarity with aerospace design practices and considerations for space environments.
