Work-Bench is a New York City-based early-stage venture capital firm, investing in founders with enterprise ambitions. We back founders who ask “Why do we do it this way?” across AI/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Cloud Native Infrastructure, and Applications. We have worked with world-class companies like Spring Health, Socure, Cockroach Labs, FireHydrant, Arthur, Authzed, Courier Health and others to tackle their enterprise software Seed firsts: first product launch, first sales hire, first 6-figure contract, and more.
With $375M AUM, we work side by side with our founders on scaling their 0 to 1 GTM engine and have grown a dynamic SaaS community here in NYC over the past 11 years.
We’re a lean team of enterprise software nerds who move at startup speed. We celebrate each other’s wins, share each other’s passion and creativity in rethinking VC, and genuinely enjoy geeking out together. While we’re serious about our work, we don’t take ourselves too seriously and enjoy karaoke and the endless breadsticks at Olive Garden.
Researcher
We are searching for an endlessly curious mind who lives and breathes enterprise technology. Someone who looks at a new developer tool and immediately wants to understand how it fits into the broader ecosystem. Someone who reads about a breakthrough in AI infrastructure and starts mapping out all the possibilities it unlocks. We’re looking to hire our first Researcher who is as fascinated as us with how enterprise tech is reshaping the way businesses operate, developers work, and companies are secured.
As a Researcher, you’ll be the person who goes deep – really deep – into the topics that matter. Think of yourself as our resident explorer, venturing into new enterprise territories and coming back with the insights that help us make bold bets on the future.
You’ll get to:
- Geek out with some of the smartest minds in enterprise tech (founders, practitioners, and visionaries who are building the future)
- Own entire research themes that excite you
- Turn your passion into content that the entire enterprise community reads and shares
- Be part of a lean, fast-moving team where your voice is essential
Here’s what would make you a perfect fit:
- You’re the person who’s always going down technical rabbit holes just because you find them fascinating and build ideas and theses connecting the dots (bonus points if you’ve written about your insights publicly).
- You can translate complex technical concepts into stories that make people lean in and want to learn more.
- You’ve spent enough time in the enterprise tech world (~3-5 years) to have developed some strong opinions about where it’s heading
- You’re equally comfortable chatting with a developer about their latest project as you are presenting findings to our investment committee
Your role will involve:
- Deep diving into technical domains across the enterprise stack
- Building relationships with the people who are actually building and implementing these technologies – founders, operators, practitioners, and corporate executives (CIOs, CISOs, VPs of Engineering, etc)
- Producing research regularly that makes people think differently about where enterprise tech is heading
- Publishing externally facing long form research reports and short POVs, as well as internal memos and market landscapes
- Contributing to our investment decisions with your unique insights and analysis
If you’re still reading and feeling excited, we should talk! Send to careers@work-bench.com:
- Your story (resume, LinkedIn, blog, Twitter – whatever best shows your passion)
- A note telling us what gets you’re excited about the role and Work-Bench
- Your take on an enterprise trend that you can’t stop thinking about
- No need for formal cover letters – we want to hear your authentic voice!
This role is based in NYC.
We believe diverse perspectives make our research stronger and our insights sharper. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds who share our enthusiasm for enterprise software.
If there is anyone you think would be a great fit for one of these roles, please forward on and share widely – thank you so much!
