An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a Sr. Data Analytics Internal Auditor to provide in-depth data analytics subject matter expertise and evaluations through integrated, cross-functional audits. As a Sr. Data Analytics Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for utilizing data analytics tools and techniques to execute audit activities, identify risks, and provide insights to enhance audit processes. You will collaborate with audit teams to develop data driven audit approaches, analyze large data sets, and interpret findings to support audit conclusions and recommendations. Additionally, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies by staying updated on data analytics best practices and emerging technologies. This position requires the ability to exhibit sound judgement and sensitivity to organizational dynamics, while maintaining performance under pressure in accordance with stringent deadlines. This position is in Mission Integrity within the Office of Laboratory Oversight.Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week. This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.You willIndependently perform full-scope technical audits, advisory services, investigations, and/or governance evaluations of Laboratory organizations and functions impacting Laboratory and Department of Energy (DOE) policies, procedures, and operations and/or in dynamic environments where objectives are broadly defined.Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to extract, manipulate, and analyze large data sets from various sources.Execute data-driven audit procedures to identify anomalies, patterns, and trends indicative of potential risks or control weaknesses.Perform data analytics tests to validate the completeness, accuracy and validity of data.Contribute data analytics findings to provide meaningful insights and recommendations to audit stakeholders for moderately complex to complex problems involving multiple, largely identifiable factors that require the creative use of established methods. Prepare clear and concise documentation of data analytics procedures, findings, and conclusions for audit reports and present verbal and written reports to management.Stay updated on data analytics best practices and industry trends to enhance audit methodologies.Contribute to the development and implementation of data analytics strategies to improve audit efficiency and effectiveness.Apply data analytics strategies to assess information system risks to determine sufficiency in the protection, management, and valuation of IT assets.Maintain professional proficiency and development by adhering to the Institute of Internal Auditors’ code of ethics, and work in accordance with contractual provisions and professional auditing standards.Perform other duties as assigned.Additional job responsibilities, at the TSS.3 level Lead full-scope technical audits, advisory services, investigations, and/or governance evaluations of Laboratory organizations and functions by identifying scope in broadly defined and complex process areas.Participate in the evaluation of audit projects in support of the department’s strategic quality control program, including maintaining best-in-class quality control procedures, executing quality control reviews throughout the audit engagement lifecycle (prior to completion of an audit), and reporting through visual analytics.Communicate data analytics findings to audit stakeholders, providing meaningful insights and recommendations for complex problems involving multiple, largely identifiable factors that require the creative use of established methods. Develop and maintain an analytics data dictionary and analytics library to ensure consistent and reliable interpretation of metrics and provide scripts for common analysis.Assist in supervising, training and mentoring associates on audit project and ad hoc assignments.QualificationsAbility to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, science or STEM-related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience and demonstrated ability to perform independent work.Experience as an Technical Auditor, Investigator, and/or Data Analyst with the ability to incorporate auditing principles and standards into execution of audit analytics and technical reports.Experience analyzing issues and applying systematic problem-solving and decision-making processes to develop workable solutions.Broad application and development of technical, business, or operational principles, theories, concepts, and techniques such as data mining, statistical analysis, and visualization and application of statistical sampling and projection methodologies.Experience with audit data analytics tools (e.g. ACL, Python, R, Tableau, SQL, IDEA, TeamMate Analytics, etc.).Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present technical or operational information.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.Additional qualifications at the TSS.3 level Master’s Degree in a technical, science or STEM-related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience and demonstrated ability to perform independent work.Significant experience as an Internal Auditor, Investigator, and/or Data Analyst with the ability to incorporate auditing principles and standards into execution of audit analytics and technical reports.Advanced knowledge of audit data analytics tools (e.g. ACL, Python, R, Tableau, SQL, IDEA, TeamMate Analytics, etc.).Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)Qualifications We DesireExperience performing data analysis using trending techniques, statistical analysis, and the creation and evaluation of logic in command functions.Experience performing thorough evaluations including root cause analysis and investigations in a complex technical or scientific environment.Mature judgment and ability to approach and resolve difficult issues using creative and innovative problem-solving skills and decision-making techniques to produce needed results in a demanding environment.Project Management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Certification in one or more of the following: Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).Solid understanding of auditing standards, regulations, and internal control frameworks.High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to upholding professional standards of conduct.Additional InformationPosition InformationThis is a Career Indefinite position, open to Lab employees and external candidates.
