Role Summary: The candidate will be placed in an interdisciplinary team working towards autonomous driving functions. The intern will use a prototype vehicle equipped with state-of-the-art sensors to access to the vehicles internal communication systems. The internship includes evaluation and implementation of state-of-the-art algorithms and ML models to enable automated driving features. Role Responsibilities: Research and evaluation of state-of-the-art machine learning approaches Implementation and extension of models for scenario detection Integration and optimization of source code for a prototype vehicle Qualifications Qualifications: Education-Required: Must be enrolled at a University/College or Graduation date must be within the last six months Skills: Student must possess know-how in machine learning Strong background in Python, docker, vector databases Experience with ROS and vehicle bus communication beneficial Experience with Linux systems or embedded devices Fluent in English, German is a plus In San Jose, California, the hourly rates for this role are based on level of education: Undergraduate (Junior or Senior): $35/hour Graduate (Master’s): $38/hour PhD: $42/hour Volkswagen Group of America is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
