Summary:
The Data Center Engineer is accountable for supporting technologies, products, and standards, in alignment with Rush Medical Center enterprise architecture and shared services vision. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Applications: What's Up Gold, SCCM, SCOM, PowerVision UPS subsystem power management, Siemens Sinorex fire protection system, Enterprise Windows 2003/2008/2012, Active Directory, VB script, Powershell, System Center Operations Manager, Systems Center Configuration Manager, WSUS patch management, Server virtualization VMware ESX, NetBackup Enterprise Backup, Symantec Enterprise Anti-Virus, Storage Area Network (SAN), Business Process Improvement, SQL, Oracle, IIS Web services, WINS, DNS, DHCP.
- Networking: TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber, VPN, Wireless networking, Wide Area Network (WAN) devices - Cisco Routers, Communication Gateways.
- Hardware:HP, Dell, Cisco, IBM, NetApp, IBM, and Hitachi SAN, Brocade SAN switch, Storage Tek tape library device, Eaton 9310\95 UPS, Equipment: Eaton Powerware 9310, 9315, 9390 and 9395 Uninterruptable Power Systems ranging from 80 -225 KVA; Allied Power and MGE 150 KVA power distribution units; Liebert Powerflow 20 ton and 15 ton, CRAC conditioned air handling units; APC HACS 3150 MODular data center cabinet and AR-100 In-Row auto balanced cooling units.
Required Job Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience required to provide technical support and technology implementation pertaining to Data Center Operations ongoing maintenance and support of computing environment in the data center.
- Extensive experience with What' Up Gold, Foglight, SCOM or other proactive monitoring tool • Experience maintaining Windows 2003/2008/2012 Servers
- Experience with Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) asset and patch management
- Experience supporting a large Citrix environment Scripting experience with VBscript and/or Powershell highly preferred
- Experience supporting Active Directory and VB scripting with AD
- Experience supporting Database infrastructures included but not limited to SQL and Oracle
- Network management (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Onsite and offsite disaster recovery planning and support
- Experience in Enterprise Backup using NetBackup suite
- Broad understanding of healthcare business lines and applications
- Experience building and supporting virtual server infrastructures using VMware ESX
- Command of common office tools (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, e-mail)
- Strong technical writing skills with proven experience in documenting System standards
- Ability to foster new ideas and concepts and make decisions surrounding complex issues.
- Strong implementation and systems integration background.
- Ability to develop and maintain key business stakeholder relationships across the enterprise and to effectively communicate at all levels, including technologists and business management.
