SMX is looking for a highly motivated
Junior Software Engineer to support the development of Software for a project relative to mission planning software for aircraft and weapons systems. You will join a team of highly driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting program management, technical, or business case analysis across the NAVAIR community. This position is based onsite at Patuxent River NAS in southern Maryland.
As a Junior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:
- Analyze software engineering/software integration problems
- Perform software integration and testing for aircraft avionics systems
- Perform software management and integration functions, improve existing computer systems, and review computer system capabilities, throughput and cybersecurity
- Develop and apply automated solutions to problems
- Use development tools to update tasks and stories, check-in, and version control
- Analyze commercially available, open source, government furnished and contractor furnished software
- Analyze architectural and functional requirements, specifications, and interfaces
- Contribute to software specifications and designs for proposed solutions
Required Skills and Experience: - Clearance Required: Secret
- BS or BA degree in a technical discipline
- At least one (1) year of experience in SW Engineering or Development supporting DoD aircraft systems, DoD weapons systems, DoD mission systems or DoD support systems, consisting of the design, development, integration, and system testing of computer hardware and software
- Ability to decompose requirements into technical system and software requirements
- Experience with scripting, database, and programming languages
Desired Qualifications: - Basic Linux/windows troubleshooting skills
- Bash Scripting

The proposed salary for this position is:
$86,000-$143,200 USD
