Assists investigators in the design of experiments, clinical trials, and epidemiological studies. May be required to assume major responsibility on large projects.Housed within the Center for Biostatistics and Data Science (CBDS), this position will participate at all levels of research-related activities, providing consultation with non-clinical and clinical scientists regarding design and conduct of biomedical studies, database design, data management, statistical methodology and preparation of grant proposals, manuscripts, reports and protocols. This position will provide biostatistical and data management expertise and implementation support on funded grants as well and as part of the services offered by the Biostatistics Consulting Service, which provides biostatistical consultation in a wide range of areas including the statistical design of experiments and clinical trials, protocol development, database management, analysis of data and interpretation of results.CBDS is part of the Institute for Informatics, Data Science and Biostatistics (I2DB). Ensuring the well-being of our team members is a top priority.Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities: Performs data analysis and/or data management using the latest and best methodologies as implemented in statistical packages (SAS, R, Stata) including generation of tables and graphs, and writing, debugging, and validating code.Knowledge of Stata is not required, but must be willing to learn.Advises and assists investigators in the design of experiments, clinical trials and epidemiological studies.Assists in database and case report form design, implementation and maintenance of data collected over time for research purposes, including acquisition, editing and reporting.May assist in design and development of data entry systems.Functions as an expert statistical consultant for funded grants and projects through the consulting service, primarily in collaborative studies involving the medical school community.Assists investigators by preparing publication-quality material including sections for manuscripts and grants.Coordinates and/or performs many research-related activities, including but not limited to: prioritizing and timely delivery of statistical analysis; report writing, drafting protocols, manuscripts and grants; preparation of progress reports and manuals of procedure.Performs other duties as assigned.Working Conditions:Job Location/Working ConditionsNormal office environmentPhysical EffortTypically sitting at desk or tableRepetitive wrist, hand or finger movement (PC typing)EquipmentOffice equipmentThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
