DescriptionAs a Machine Learning Engineer in the International Data Engineering team, you will join a phenomenal team of passionate engineers to design, implement and qualify Apple Intelligence features globally across a wide variety of Apple’s products. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to help architect the future of localizing and scaling Machine Learning models and datasets. Your duties include: Actively engaging in all aspects of model development, from ideation, training, experimentation, evaluation to deployment Helping define a scalable, data driven quality program to continuously improve ML based products and features globally Collaborating with translation, Localization quality, project management and engineering teams to develop and scale the approach with a focus on the end user and the product quality Developing and maintaining features, frameworks and tools to help facilitate the software translation process Minimum QualificationsExperience with Machine Learning (ML), with a particular emphasis on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP)Hands-on experience developing end to end machine learning systems: defining and creating metrics and datasets, training models and performing error triagingComprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with fine-tuning approaches and training modelsStrong programming skills in Python or other scripting languagesPreferred QualificationsHands-on experience with handling large datasets and developing data analytics pipelines for natural language based productsProven ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply cutting-edge research into consumer-oriented productsProficiency using open-source ML toolkits and frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenNMT)Experience in software Localization / internationalizationNative-level foreign language skills in reading, writing and speakingExperience or curiosity in languages and culture, comfortable working cross-functionally and cross-culturallyPublished research in the field of Machine Learning or AI.Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
