We’re seeking a future leader for the role of Managing Director – Growth Ventures Lead within our newly created Growth Ventures division. This role is based in New York/London.
Key responsibilities/scope:
- Objective is to identify, incubate, and commercialize new businesses (or significant products) leveraging existing BNY Mellon capabilities and outside partners (where relevant) to generate new profitable revenues
- Develop a new commercial opportunity from inception (analytically identifying opportunity); to structuring (commercial model; inside/outside bank); to agreement with Business Leaders (for input and support) through to launch.
- Shape business growth strategy, helping the team respond to shifting market conditions, identify new emerging opportunities, and accelerate commercial realization
- Craft and realize long-term strategy to transition new ventures to BAU operations, either as an independent business within Growth Ventures, by transitioning the venture to another BNY Mellon line of business, or establishing the business as an external going concern and managing BNY Mellon’s investment therein

- Entrepreneurial and self-directed – being able to take a conceptual business idea from an initial set of facts and hypotheses to real, practical solutions and execution
- Proven ability to negotiate
- Possess a strong execution bias
- Able to manage multiple complex projects with an unrelenting focus and prioritization
- Bring a global mindset and be comfortable working across a diverse set of environments
- Able to work as a standalone leader, with high visibility inside and outside company; and access to small talented group of associates & VPs
- Independent and creative; with a strong external network and brand
