Our rich experience and deep connections in both finance and technology give us a unique perspective and facility to help entrepreneurs transform payments, credit models, digital advice, and financial infrastructure. Our portfolio companies greatly value our advice and assistance in building the leading FinTech companies. We are an established firm nine years in the making, with over $900mm AUM and more than 100 investments in companies like Affirm, Acorns, AvidXchange, Forage, Ladder, Payoneer, Propel, Sentilink, Thought Machine, Treasury Prime, and Zero Hash. We also have what we believe is the leading expert investor base, 100+ Limited Partner Advisors who have deep knowledge of all aspects of financial services technology and entrepreneurship.
Nyca is looking for an exceptional individual to join the firm as an Associate. As an Associate, you will be involved in many different elements of Nyca’s operations as a VC firm. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing some of Nyca’s internal processes (e.g., the investment pipeline) as well as many of Nyca’s external engagements with LPs, portfolio company founders and employees, and other stakeholders across the fintech and financial services community. You will do a lot of writing, helping to articulate Nyca’s value proposition, investment approach, and views on the market. You will also be a key member of the Nyca investment team, helping to conduct diligence on prospective investments, writing investment memos, building relationships with portfolio companies, and learning the ropes of VC investing.
Strong performers in this role will gain a firm grasp of how venture capital firms operate, a knowledge of key issues in fintech and players in the fintech ecosystem, as well as an excellent core VC investing skillset. The best candidates for this role will likely be individuals who take an ownership mindset in everything they do and have a strong interest in learning about fintech and venture capital.

Requirements
- 2–4 years post-undergraduate experience. Many strong candidates will have a background in consulting, finance (investment banking, VC, PE, equity research, public markets investing), or operating experience in early stage startups. Candidates with other backgrounds should also feel free to apply, as we want to hire the best person for the job and are not looking for a cookie cutter profile.
- Robust understanding of financial services. Familiarity with sub industry verticals such as payments, lending, compliance, insurance, capital markets, etc. Some direct experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently. Associates must be able to manage their own schedules and balance many competing priorities. The role is fairly unstructured, and proactive individuals who know how to structure their time will thrive.

A solid business/financial acumen is also a plus (i.e., competent in Excel, can identify financial drivers of a company, etc.).

- Executive presence. Associates need to communicate effectively with senior executives, founders, and other external stakeholders and be able to quickly win their trust and respect.
- Intellectual curiosity. Intellectual curiosity is a core ingredient in Nyca’s culture, and the right candidate will reflect this. Some knowledge of fintech, financial services, and / or technology is a plus.
