About The Job:
City Light Capital is seeking an energetic, passionate, and intellectually curious Associate to join our investment team. This position is ideal for someone with several years of relevant experience who is passionate about venture capital, entrepreneurship, and impact investing. City Light Capital is looking for a team member who can take a leading role in our investment process, learn and adapt quickly to a fast-moving start-up environment, and would be able to take on multiple projects at the same time.
The position will be based out of our office in New York City.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take leading role in due diligence of potential venture capital investments. Prepare thoughtful and rigorous analysis of prospective fund investments, including sector, financial, founder analysis
- Lead diligence calls with entrepreneurs and develop recommendations on investments to present to the investing team
- Support City Light sourcing activities by leveraging existing network and establishing new relationships with founders/CEOs, investors and industry experts. Know how to identify winning technology & teams
- Continue building sector-specific expertise in City Light’s sectors and sharing learnings with the firm
- Work with investing team to support portfolio companies post-investment
- Work closely to oversee junior investing team members and with senior investing team across the deal process
- Develop, maintain, and oversee creation of financial models to evaluate investment opportunities
- Conduct and oversee creation of market research on City Light’s three sectors of interest (care, education, and climate)
- Help the team effectively manage/track large seed portfolio (including portfolio onboarding)
