Studio Management is quantamental hedge fund that has recently converted from a single family office, with $120MM in AUM. Studio is run by Alap Shah, a former Citadel and Viking analyst who built and scaled Sentieo, the premier software tool for alpha generation for long-short equity investors. Sentieo raised over $65MM, grew to a team of 300 with over 1,000 institutional clients before exiting to AlphaSense in 2022.
Alap has been refining his quantamental investment process since 2011 and has been a pioneer in the alternative data space. This process has enabled Studio to generate 99th percentile returns and Studio is now seeking to hire its first quant professional to partner with the 8 fundamental investors on the team today.
Position:
Studio Management is seeking an exceptional recent grad for a dual role as Investment Analyst and Chief of Staff to Co-founding Partner Johnny Hwin.
The position will afford the right candidate the opportunity to work alongside Johnny and see how an investment firm is run as well as how early-stage startups are ideated and scaled.

Major responsibilities will include:
- Driving the end to end execution of various projects
- Helping to manage staff across teams internally
- New company and new product research
- Initial screening of inbound VC deal flow
- Market mapping and team building for incubated ventures
- Joining all major calls, taking notes, and taking lead on next steps
Qualifications:

- 0-5 years work experience, tech or finance experience is a plus but not required

Studio is co-founded by Johnny Hwin, an artist, entrepreneur, and investor/advisor previously featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and SPIN Magazine. He most recently cofounded Thistle—a subscription-based health foods delivery company—an early incubated company within Studio Management, and is the singer-songwriter/producer of Cathedrals, an indie-electronic duo The New York Times describes as “R&B with 1980s rock swagger,” currently featured in season 1 of Amazon Prime’s new series “Jack Ryan”.
He was formerly co-founder and CEO of damntheradio, a Facebook marketing platform that powered promotional campaigns for artists such as Lady Gaga and The Black Keys, and brands such as Wrangler Jeans and Gatorade. damntheradio was acquired in January 2011 by email marketing startup FanBridge (investors include SoftTech VC, Lowercase Capital, 500 Startups, First Round Capital, Founder Collective, et al)—6 months after launch. In the spring of 2011 post-acquisition, he opened for Moby at SXSW, playing bass in the live outfit of electronic dream-pop artist Blackbird Blackbird.
