About the position:
ING Corporate Investments (ING CI) is looking for an experienced Director to drive its expansion into the Americas.
As Director of our team, you will play a key role in our expansion into the Americas. You will be based in New York, where you will be part of the ING CMA Americas team and part of the ING CMA Americas Management Team. You will be ING CI’s first boots on the ground in the Americas, responsible for identifying, originating, assessing and executing financing deals and investment opportunities, and subsequently managing these investments. You will be responsible for CI’s commercial roll-out in the Americas, leading all origination of transactions for CI, in close cooperation with the ING CMA, Sector and Lending teams in New York. You will frequently engage and collaborate with key internal stakeholder partners including, but not limited to regional and global senior Wholesale Bank management, credit risk management, regional and global business heads and other product and coverage groups. You will be embedded in the ING CMA New York team and for execution and subsequent portfolio management you will furthermore have ample support of ING CI’s Execution Pool consisting of Analysts, Associates and VPs based in Amsterdam. You will actively contributes to the development and implementation of the overall CI and CM&A business strategy and ING business principles including ING’s Orange Code.

ING CI is responsible for all mezzanine debt, equity and sustainable investments within ING. We are active across a broad range of sectors and geographies, and we invest in various stages, from early stage to mature companies. You will become part of a team with a strong ambition to grow. We aim to triple our Assets under Management in the coming years and transform ING CI into a true portfolio manager, i.e., a multi-strategy value investor with an operating model that allows for controlled scaling of the business.
CI is part of ING’s Global Capital Markets & Advisory division which offers a complete suite of capital markets (loan, bond, securitization and selected equity) and tailored advisory services (M&A, Ratings and Debt Advisory) to clients.
Responsibilities :
Key focus and priority of the role lies in origination within the Americas, in particular with existing (and prospective) clients of ING WB Americas. You are expected to make ING CI’s products an integral part of the overall product offering of the CMA and Sector teams enabling ING to build deeper relationships and use ING CI’s expertise and balance sheet solutions to solve complex (financing or investment) challenges for our clients’ C-suite.
Qualifications and Competencies
As a candidate for this role, you will have 9-12 years of relevant experience in Banking, PE/VC, or Investments. The role requires significant and demonstrable commercial experience in and understanding of all instruments across the capital structure and across a wide range of industries. You will have experience, or at least affinity, with sustainable investments and the broader energy transition and circular economy markets. To be successful in this role, you should have a proven track record of originating and executing complex transactions, as well as the ability to steer detailed financial modelling, valuation and due diligence exercises. You will have responsibility and accountability for delivering specific revenue targets and KPI metrics as well as managing cost base of CI in New York. You have excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, as well as a high degree of integrity and professionalism. The values and behaviors of the ING Orange Code are naturally close to you, and you are as much focused on your own success as on the success of the teams you are a part of. A collaborative spirit should be your nature, as alignment of client strategies and risk management with CMA and Sector teams in the Americas and with the CI team in Amsterdam is critical. You will be expected to stay abreast of market trends and regulatory changes, develop and maintain relationships with intermediaries, co-investors and portfolio companies, and contribute to the overall strategy and vision of the ING CI team and – as a member of the CMA Americas Management Team- the CMA team in New York.
• Strong Bloomberg, Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
• Minimum BA/BS In Business or related field, MBA preferred
• FINRA Series 79 and 63 required
Base Salary Range: $265K – $325K
