POSITION SUMMARY Main Functions and ResponsibilitiesThe Statistical Analysis of Neural Data Group develops statistical models and open-source computational tools to extract insights from neural data. The group is particularly interested in characterizing flexibility and variability in neural circuits—e.g., how do the dynamics of large neural ensembles change over the course of learning a new skill, during periods of high attention or task engagement, or during development and aging. The Research Analyst will develop and apply statistical software for fitting state space models (SSMs) to infer latent dynamical mechanisms of neural circuit dynamics. The ideal candidate will have strong Python programming abilities and a broad mathematical background including probability, statistics, and optimization. This position will involve collaboration with the Associate Research Scientist - Software team in the Center for Computational Neuroscience.
