Job Description: Technology Application Specialist
Identity Management, Google Workspace, and Active Directory Administrator
Primary Purpose of Position
To serve in the capacity of the Technology Application Specialist and perform the appropriate essential functions and responsibilities. We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Google Workspace, Identity Management, and Active Directory Administration Specialist to manage, maintain, and optimize our organization's Google Workspace, IAM, and AD environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Identity Management Strategy & Architecture:
? Design, implement, and maintain scalable IAM frameworks, policies, and procedures that meet industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
? Lead initiatives to improve security, reduce risk, and streamline user access provisioning and de-provisioning.
Access Management:
? Manage user identity lifecycle across the district systems (onboarding, role changes, offboarding).
? Implement Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Identity Federation solutions to ensure secure access.
? Oversee Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and maintain an accurate mapping of users' roles and permissions.
Identity Governance:
? Perform regular audits of user access rights and monitor compliance with security policies.
? Develop processes for identity governance, certification, and the remediation of access rights issues.
? Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate access levels are enforced across all platforms.
Directory Services & Integration:
? Administer and manage directory services (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP).
? Support the integration of applications into IAM systems for efficient access management and automation.
Incident Response & Troubleshooting:
? Investigate and resolve access-related issues, including those reported by end users and flagged during system audits.
? Collaborate with cybersecurity teams in the investigation of security incidents and breaches that involve identity compromise.
Google Workspace Administration:
? Manage the overall configuration, settings, and functionality of Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meet, etc.)
? Create and manage users, groups, and organizational units (OUs) across the organization.
? Monitor system performance and troubleshoot Google Workspace issues promptly.
? Implement policies for device and data management (Google Workspace security settings, mobile device management).
Security & Compliance:
? Manage user permissions and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
? Conduct regular security audits, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
? Set up and maintain data loss prevention (DLP) policies and email retention rules.
? Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) for data protection.
Integration & Automation:
? Automate workflows and processes using Google Workspace APIs, Apps Script, or third-party tools.
? Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers for integrations or issue resolution.
User Support & Training:
? Provide technical support and resolve issues related to Google Workspace for end-users.
? Create and maintain training materials and conduct user training sessions to improve overall proficiency with Google Workspace tools.
Optimization & Reporting:
? Monitor usage reports, storage quotas, and system logs to identify opportunities for efficiency.
? Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements and optimize workflows.
? Stay up-to-date with new features, updates, and Google Workspace roadmap announcements.
Active Directory Administrator:
? Manage Active Directory Services: Oversee the administration and configuration of AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
? User and Group Management: Create, modify, and manage user accounts, groups, and organizational units (OUs) in accordance with MSD of Wayne policies.
? Access Control: Implement and manage permissions and security settings, including directory rights, role-based access control, and user account.
? Group Policy Management: Design, deploy, and maintain GPOs to enforce security policies, desktop configurations, and system settings.
? Security and Compliance: Ensure AD compliance with security standards and best practices.
? Disaster Recovery: Plan, test, and implement backup and recovery strategies for Active Directory services to ensure business continuity.
? Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams such as network and security teams to integrate AD with other identity management and authentication systems.
? Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of the AD environment, including configurations, processes, and procedures.
Digital Resources:
? Classroom Applications Management: Troubleshoot all classroom applications. Collaborate with vendors to ensure that applications are running smoothly and students and staff have access to those applications
? Recommend tested applications for use in the classroom.
? Perform student health and safety-related tasks necessary for a particular student or students including, but not limited to, health care services related to students with diabetes, basic life support, therapeutic, and sanitary service, and taking other actions reasonably necessary to prevent harm or injury to a student as determined by the student's Individual Health Plan (IHP), Individual Education Plan (IEP), or 504 Plan.
? Perform any other digital resource duties that may be assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Highly developed verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills in order to relate to students, parents, staff, administrators, and the community. Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and conflict avoidance.
? Strong organization skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with the ability to effectively prioritize. Ability to work independently and within a team while maintaining cooperative working relationships.
? Possess highly developed technical skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
? Associate degree in a computer-related field or equivalent preferred but not required. CompTIA A+, Network +, Security + preferred but not required.
Working Experience
Experience: Background and training in computer operation support services.
? 3-5 plus years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), Information Security, Google Workspace, Active Directory Administration, or related IT fields. Strong experience with IAM technologies such as One Sync.
? Experience with identity management tools (Google Identity, LDAP, SSO, etc.)
? Experience with API integrations, automation, and scripting (Google Apps Script or similar).
? Proficiency in managing Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and replication in AD environments.
? Strong understanding of AD architecture, Domain Controllers, and LDAP queries.
? Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation of AD tasks.
? Knowledge of security frameworks like NIST, ISO27001, and ITIL practices.
? Strong understanding of networking, security, and data management principles.
? Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
? Strong interpersonal skills, capable of providing clear communication and support to end users.
? Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Expectations of Employee Work 260 days per year according to the support staff schedule.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone, and write. Occasionally, the employee must lift and/or move up to Fifty (50) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and objects, and providing oral information. Requires the ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Involves limited travel.
