The mission of Centinela Youth Services, Inc. (CYS) is to strengthen families and communities and help build successful students and productive adults, leveraging the principles of restorative justice to empower peaceful conflict resolution. We are committed to ending the institutionalized practices in schools and justice systems that are primarily responsible for maintaining the school-to-prison pipeline, and disproportionately impact youth of color. CYS operates a variety of innovative programs that are proven to increase student performance; reduce school dropout rates, gang involvement, youth violence and crime and ultimately help preserve families. CYS is leading innovation that is transforming youth justice in LA and the state, with a commitment to both youth development and serving victims of youth crime, while impacting systemic change to end the school to prison pipeline. CYS is also providing leadership to critical juvenile justice reform in LA County, and as a result is growing rapidly. CYS is seeking an energetic, creative and dynamic leader to build and lead its service navigation program as part of a larger community prevention and wellness strategy to end community reliance on police response to youth behaviors.
Compensation
This is an exempt full-time position, including benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are invited to participate in the company’s health benefits package after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period. Our benefits program includes select health plans and dental plans at 100% cost coverage (for employee only), vision insurance, time off accruals and holiday pay.
Work location
This position will split time between remote work and our Inglewood office. This position involves meetings in the field at various locations across Los Angeles County. As well as a full in-office day every other Tuesday.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. CYS has the following 9/80 work schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8am – 6pm. Friday, 8am – 5pm, with every other Friday off.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) in Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a related field and at least five years of experience in a similar setting or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Candidate will be required to pass background clearance and TB test (TB test only when requested).

General Functions and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant Program Director, the Diversion Program Supervisor is responsible for quality and maintenance of the CYS’s Diversion program. This position oversees the country’s leading evidence-based Restorative Justice diversion program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the CYS, Inc. Assistant Program Director, the Prevention Supervisor supports a growing team of service navigators (case managers) and will build out the agency’s vision for a robust service navigation program with strategic partnerships that are changing community responses to youth/families in need of support. The Prevention Supervisor leads the agency’s primary service offering that enables educational systems to transition away from punitive practices and toward restorative and trauma-informed practices that improve outcomes for youth. This position supervises staff and interns that represent the organization in outreach to justice system and school district partners, county agencies and community. Partnering closely with the CYS School Transformation Specialist, the Prevention Supervisor helps set up partnerships where CYS service navigators set up “office hours” at schools and other locations in the community to directly screen and address the needs of families to be connected to quality services. The supervisor leads a team, facilitates collaborative meetings, manages grant projects and advocates for local policy change while developing programmatic responses to community needs. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide direct supervision to staff and interns working to support the goals of this department. Supervision includes hiring, retention, training, coaching and conducting performance evaluations.
- Review and assign cases to Prevention Case Managers
- Referrals flow monitoring to mitigate capacity concerns
- Approve staff schedule adjustments to accommodate meetings for families’ availability/schedules.
- Timesheet and mileage reimbursement approvals
- Case Conference – occurs weekly with team for presentations, brainstorming and sharing perspectives on cases
- Individual Supervision – occurs weekly for case updates/consultation and performance feedback
- Review service plans for quality, program fidelity, and contract compliance (i.e. proper document signatures).
- Approve staff schedule adjustments approvals and notifications to CYS Administration
- Timesheet and mileage approvals
- Ensure the Prevention team achieves the vision and values of the Prevention program, which is to:
- Do “whatever it takes” to match kids/families/harmed parties to what they need with a warm handoff that confirms a successful match is made.
- Be expert listeners to best identify needs and experts at what resources are available.
- Organize/promote available resources so other youth service professionals (case managers, school counselors) can be better at matching families to services.
- Build a reputation for CYS as “the” place to call for help that is responsive and reliable.
- Provide overall coordination to ensure structure for robust communications and partnership agreements with 40-60 partner service agencies.
- Establish and facilitate biannual meetings of CYS’s service agency partners to strengthen collaboration.
- Work with CYS leadership and school district partners to establish subscription structure to fund capacity for CYS services to enhance counseling resources for local districts.
- Provide leadership and project management for program initiatives and grant implementation and ensure fidelity to program philosophy underpinnings while adapting and innovating based on lessons learned during the project. Oversee report preparation for grants and contractual compliance.
- Serve as an advocate to inspire and instigate systemic and policy change within the educational and justice agencies with whom CYS works.
- Support outreach for referrals from educational and justice system partners with an equity lens to ensure all youth are provided fair opportunities for support over punishment.
- Document and collect data related to agency and funding partner objectives and work with evaluators as required to ensure clean data is used for analysis and reporting.
- Complete timely and accurate project, progress and activity reports.
- Work with Assistant Program Director to develop, plan and implement strategies to manage program growth and ensure funding and sustainability of the program.

- May require spending most of the day walking, standing, sitting, and regularly driving back and forth to off-site locations.
