As a Senior Engineer on the Content Management team at Shipt, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the systems and services that power Shipt’s core systems. You will be collaborating with product teams and other engineers to drive the architecture delivery for the success of business goals. Every day you will work on a team of 5 engineers to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain application code using Golang, Postgres, Redis and Kafka in a micro-services architecture. You will work with product and cross-functional teams to address various challenges in supporting core systems, ensuring the stability, scalability and performance of applications. Additionally, you will actively participate in design discussions with both your team and other development teams.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
4+ years of software development experience building large, scalable, micro-service applications in the cloud.
You know how to develop backend software applications using object-oriented programming languages.
You have experience with or are eager to learn GoLang
You have experience database systems and event-driven messaging systems
You are familiar with front-end applications using React, React Native, and/or other frontend frameworks.
You are passionate about software development, learning different domain knowledge, and solving problems.
You are a self-directed individual that enjoys freedom in your work.
You are able to identify and improve poor-performing code or database queries.
Strong knowledge of testing fundamentals; unit, integration, end to end, etc.
Experience leading technical efforts to improve app maintainability, stability, and performance.
Have a high degree of ownership for all aspects of their services
Work Arrangement
Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Seattle and New York City:
$110,421-$220,842
Metro Areas of Los Angeles and San Francisco:
$115,763.35-$220,842
All other locations:
$92,036-$184,071
Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
