Role Description
The Software Engineering team at Form builds innovative internal and customer-facing tools that touch every part of Form’s product and company. We’re a Python/React/AWS shop, use a modern data stack including Snowflake/Databricks/Dagster, and leverage Ignition for industrial software systems.
Form Energy’s iron-air battery storage technology is ready to leave the lab and be deployed in the field—the missing link is our ability to manufacture our battery systems at scale. To get there, we’re building factories for the 21st century, with software and data built in from the start. The Manufacturing Software Engineering team is responsible for the suite of cloud software products that safely and efficiently runs the factory floor, orchestrates the flow of inventory, enables data-driven process and quality improvement, and more.
As the engineering manager of the team, you’ll guide and develop a team of software engineers and technicians to execute on this challenge. This is a unique opportunity to leverage and expand your software, manufacturing, and leadership experience to make a direct impact on climate change as part of a fast-growing team.
This opportunity is based out of Form Energy’s Weirton, WV or Eighty Four, PA facility. Relocation assistance is available.
What you’ll do:
Build the technical vision and development roadmap for Form’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and the broader software ecosystem to run a modern manufacturing company
Develop, deliver, and evolve Ignition/Sepasoft MES capabilities alongside the development, bring-up, and scale-up of first-of-a-kind manufacturing lines
Set and deliver against clear SLAs for data quality, system uptime, etc to ensure rapid problem-solving and efficient operations in a 24/7 factory
Develop and grow a diverse, high-performing, highly engaged team (augmenting with contractors as needed)
Represent your team in collaborations with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Controls/SCADA, IT, Finance, Data Science, Product, and other Software Eng. teams to align roadmaps and take accountability for team priorities
Act primarily as a people manager and technical advisor, with some hands-on technical work and on-the-floor support to fill gaps while the team is small
What you’ll bring:
Minimum 2+ years management experience, including hiring and people management responsibilities (level depending on experience)
Deep expertise in Ignition/Sepasoft or Rockwell FactoryTalk required (eg Gold certified). Broad software/data engineering experience highly desired.
Comfort leading a technical team with diverse backgrounds and professional interests, spanning software engineering generalists, MES technicians working shifts on the factory floor, and consultants
Adaptable collaboration style enabling close relationships with VPs, battery process experts, manufacturing associates, and anyone in between
A management style that embodies Form Energy’s values of Humanity, Excellence, and Creativity by emphasizing innovative problem solving, rapid cycles of learning, high standards for quality & safety, growth mindset, and inclusion
Excitement to build a factory from scratch and deploy a new class of climatetech solution
Ability to work from the Greater Pittsburgh, PA or Weirton, WV region (relocation available)
