As the Senior Engineering Manager leading our Data and AI team, you will manage all aspects of our data organization, including data infrastructure, data pipelines, and machine learning infrastructure. You will ensure the highest standards of data quality and performance, developing robust technical roadmaps that align with Grata’s strategic objectives. This role requires a dynamic leader who can foster a high-performing team environment, set clear goals, and drive the technical and strategic vision forward.
About the Role:
You will…
- Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable data and machine learning infrastructure utilizing tools such as Spark, Airflow, AWS, and Databricks.
- Lead and expand a team of data engineers, data scientists and machine learning engineers, ensuring strong career progression and skill development.
- Collaborate closely with technical leads to develop long-term visions and innovative strategies for data utilization.
- Work in partnership with product, data operations, and technical leadership to align engineering activities with broader company goals.
- Drive initiatives aimed at maintaining high-quality data and efficient data operations that support machine learning training and inference processes.
About You:
- Minimum of 4 years in engineering management, specifically in data-focused roles.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Experience managing a data warehouse, workload scheduling and orchestration framework
- Experienced in setting clear objectives and developing strategic roadmaps that align with business goals.
- Experience with defining and setting up effective monitoring for data and platform services and solutions
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, statistics, data science and data infrastructure ecosystems
- Strong foundation in data infrastructure tooling (e.g., Spark, Airflow, AWS, Databricks) and machine learning infrastructure.
- Focused on building, managing and growing teams, but remain close to the technology.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Located in New York or willing to relocate, strong preference for an office-centric culture with a flexible work environment
- Passionate about data quality and infrastructure performance, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Enthusiasm, energy, and optimism about the future of artificial intelligence and the desire to build incredible AI products

Actual compensation packages at the time of offers are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to: what you’d like to be paid, the skills/experience you bring and any role-dependent factors such as software expertise, what similar jobs pay in the NYC area, and our commitment to equal pay for equal work among those you’ll be working with. The compensation for this role is targeted at $180,000-$210,000, plus a significant equity package.
