Position Needs
The Processing Improvement (PI) Engineer supports the manufacturing operation by partnering with others to eliminate losses. They will become a subject matter expert on Processing and Utilities Equipment, Siemens and Allen Bradley Control methodology. Expert knowledge will enable loss elimination ranging from repetitive minor stops, to major downtime issues, to safety and quality issues. As needed, the PI Engineer will represent the Processing department in CAPEX reviews and identify improvements and/or escalate concerns. The Processing Improvement Engineer must be available to backfill for Processing supervisor absences, during the week and/or on weekends. The PI Engineer must be willing to shift days worked for project oversight and to meet business needs. This will be a dynamic role with visibility throughout the organization with ample opportunities to reduce sources of downtime and generate cost savings across the factory.
You’ll have responsibility for the results of ScMM and Conventional Processing lines and will need to analyze results, think strategically to develop actions plans, coach production technicians, manage operating standards and implement improvement projects. Further, the PI Engineer will be charged with using the appropriate problem-solving tools to identify the loss, solve for root cause and eliminate the loss by implementing improvements and the appropriate standards as well as lead traditional Improvement systems such as developing centerlines, implementing Controls upgrades, Document Training, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Preventative Maintenance (PMs) standards.
You’ll be working alongside a Processing Supervisor daily. Both roles will report to the Processing Manager.

What does it take for you to be successful?
You’ll need to be detail oriented, biased towards action, possess strong communication skills and enjoy working with others in a manufacturing environment.
A successful Processing Improvement Engineer will have an Engineering degree or Bachelor’s Degree at minimum and be able to demonstrate how he/she has successfully used engineering thought processes to develop solutions for challenging problems in either work or school environments.
