The Operational Compliance Specialist performs a key risk management role (alignment to second line of defense), to help ensure corporate initiatives and key processes with significant compliance impact comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Act as a primary owner of dispute handling and account investigations and resolutions.
- Reviewing and responding to credit bureau reporting disputes within regulatory required timelines.
- Correct inaccurate account information provided to credit bureaus while maintaining a detailed database of credit reporting disputes, inquiries, and resolutions.
- Become familiar with Octane’s loan servicing software and processes to ensure accurate account investigations
- Draft dispute response letters based on direct disputes submitted to Octane
- Provide input on updates to Octane’s credit reporting standards and practices based on dispute trends and changing regulator and industry guidance
- Assisting in root cause analysis to identify and correct inaccuracies prior to reporting
- Researching and analyzing consumer accounts to respond to credit inquiries and disputes
- Support monthly data furnishing processes as needed
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree and at least 1-3 years of professional experience in Consumer Loan Servicing and Operations with a familiarity and ownership of Compliance related processes
- Demonstrated proficiency with professional software such Microsoft Office, GSuite, Project Management Tools, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with superior analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong adaptability and capacity to work in fast-paced environments
- Detail oriented, organized, energetic and action focused
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Knowledge of the Metro2 format, CDIA guidelines, and all facets of Credit Bureau reporting and disputes, including tools such as e0scar, Bullseye, etc. is preferred
- Industry experience within Consumer Finance, FinTech, Financial Services, or similar industries is preferred
