ABOUT THE JOB
In this role, you will assist in ensuring the facility’s compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and Fiberon EHS standards. The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to established operational procedures and standard work to assist facility managers to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.

Projects: Candidate will assist with various projects relating to EHS needs in the plant with oversight and direction from the Safety Manager.
Identify, assess, and monitor workplace hazards that could be present in the work area; remediate hazards, and/or recommend improvements to minimize hazard potential with oversight by the Safety Manager. Perform daily site walks to help identify and mitigate hazards on the production, maintenance and warehouse spaces.
Investigation: Assist or lead in incident investigations for accidents, incidents, injuries and complaints concerning potential hazards or unsafe conditions in the work place. Assemble and lead learning teams both proactively and reactively to drive improvements.
Training, Education, & Awareness: Conduct monthly and annual trainings for associates related to EHS compliance with oversight and direction by the Safety Manager. Conduct EHS orientations to visitors, new hires and contractors. Facilitate key trainings and refreshers for LOTO, Powered Industrial Trucks, Confined Space, Hazardous Communication, etc.
Safety Program Involvement: Support and drive associate participation in safety programs and initiatives, driving participation, supplying data, coaching and support. Participate in additional projects as time permits. Attend EHS committee meetings and drive engagement.
EHS Program Development: Work actively toward continuous improvement of the EHS programs including refining or developing standard work for all routine tasks, inspections, reports, as well as refining training programs and procedures to ensure program consistency with oversight by Safety Manager.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or Bachelor Degree in Safety or closely-related field preferred
- One-two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment driving EHS efforts
- Basic understanding of all local regulatory agency requirements including OSHA, NCDENR, EPA, NFPA, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One-two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- OSHA 30 HR or 40 HR Hazwoper
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong time management skills
- Proficiency in database, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software
- Experience in managing hazardous and universal waste areas
- Basic understanding of permitting requirements (storm water, air, waste water)
