Osmind is the premier platform for clinicians and researchers advancing new life-saving mental health treatments. Today, mental health disorders are one of the leading causes of death worldwide, especially among young adults, and are tied to shortening lifespans. While there have been developments in new psychiatric medications since the first FDA approval in 1954, today there is a growing movement among clinicians, patients, and researchers who are recognizing the need to accelerate new science.
The Osmind treatment platform is the first and only solution that solves specific challenges faced by neuropsychiatric clinics, spanning general psychiatry and interventional psychiatry (transcranial magnetic stimulation, ketamine, SPRAVATO®, psychedelic medicine, electroconvulsive therapy). The core electronic health record (EHR) technology is precisely developed for interventional treatment workflows and designed to support a strong therapeutic alliance, including journaling tools and assistance with health plan reimbursement, which is a significant access hurdle for millions of patients.
Research from our platform is already helping to set new standards for mental health interventions. For example, in the largest published real-world analysis of ketamine infusion therapy for depression, we teamed up with Stanford University School of Medicine to share findings in the Journal of Affective Disorders (March 2022). We have multiple ongoing research studies leveraging our proprietary real-world data, including an even larger ketamine analysis leveraging machine learning to predict treatment outcomes.
Osmind is a San Francisco–based public benefit corporation led by scientists, technologists, and psychiatrists. We are backed by top investors including DFJ Growth, General Catalyst, Future Ventures, Tiger Global, and Y Combinator.
The opportunity
We are a
series B funded Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) building something that actually moves the needle on the global mental health crisis. (See
here for an article our cofounder Jimmy wrote about PBC’s.)
What you’ll do
- Play a critical role in developing life sciences partnerships as the first business role on our Biosciences team, working closely with founders. Run point on execution and contribute to developing strategy of a quickly-growing business line at Osmind, spanning retrospective and prospective real-world evidence, commercial engagement, and trials enablement.
- Own top-of-funnel strategy and execution, collaborating closely with marketing and medical teams on how to reach prospects. Build your knowledge of the neuropsychiatry life sciences landscape and how that translates to our GTM strategy
- A key result of your success will be our ability to reach and engage with every single relevant group within target life sciences companies
- Develop and progress a deep understanding of Osmind’s distinctive rights-to-win and unique ability to address client pain points
- A key result of this ability is that you could develop a proposal end-to-end for a given business development opportunity, including product scope, pricing, and other terms
- Assist founders with business development: attend client meetings, lead proposal-writing, assist with negotiations, and manage the contracting and procurement processes in tandem with our Finance and Legal teams
- Own account management post-sales. Leverage your client-facing abilities to develop deep relationships, effectively project manage client projects, and identify and execute on cross-sell and upsell opportunities
- Lead program management of ongoing client projects, closely collaborating with various teams such as Data Science, Medical, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Product.
- Maintain an understanding of R&D pipelines, M&A activity, funding activity, asset development, etc. of neuropsychiatry drug and device development
- Synthesize feedback from prospect and customer conversations (e.g. needs for specific data variables, interest in specific patient populations, etc.) to contribute to roadmap and strategic decisions, collaborating with Product and Data Science stakeholders
- Explore partnerships with other organizations in the healthcare ecosystem, such as health systems, diagnostics companies, registries, and more, to aid commercialization, data acquisition, and GTM strategies
Requirements
- 3+ years within life sciences partnerships or selling into pharma (e.g. at RWE companies, CRO, life sciences consulting firm), with multiple deals managed, i.e. you played a critical role in sourcing, closing, or executing on them
- Strong interest in and understanding of RWE value propositions from clinical development through commercial. Fluency in drug development and scientific concepts, e.g. you could comfortably speak 1-1 with a scientific counterpart at a pharma company
- Comfort with and excitement around uncertainty as we launch our enterprise GTM strategy and build a repeatable GTM motion
- Hustle and grit: this is one of Osmind’s core values. You’ll demonstrate willingness to roll up your sleeves and spend hours prospecting or chasing down the right stakeholders to speak to
- Team above self: this is one of Osmind’s core values. Our Biosciences team is a small and nimble team; we don’t believe in the thinking “this isn’t in my job description”
- Ability to travel to conferences and biopharma client meetings several times a year
Nice to haves
- Early-stage startup experience (Series B or earlier)
- Strong understanding or prior experience in neuropsychiatry
- Graduate or undergraduate education in a relevant scientific field such as neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, biostatistics, etc.
A successful first year might look like
- Overseeing and managing the successful execution of a major client project, resulting in negotiating an upsell opportunity
- Sourcing and helping close a deal with a new client
- Playing a key role in refining our life sciences strategy with our founders and executive leadership team
