Position Description:
Calico is seeking a highly motivated, inquisitive and skilled RA/SRA to join a multidisciplinary team to help discover and validate potential targets predicted to slow human aging and counteract age-related disease for entry into Calico’s drug-development pipeline. The candidate will be expected to work independently, use cutting-edge technology, actively collaborate with other groups and multi-task across multiple concurrent projects. This position provides an exciting opportunity for growth, intellectual ownership and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Jump start, optimize and become an expert in diverse cell-based and in vivo assays
- Work closely and collaboratively with experts across Calico (e.g. physiology, flow cytometry, genomics, microscopy teams)
- Conduct rigorous, well-controlled experiments, sometimes on a tight timeline
- Develop a deep understanding and ownership of your projects
- Contribute to Calico’s collaborative and innovative research environment
- Contribute to impactful publications and scientific presentations, both internally and externally
Position Requirements:
- BS or MS degree in Biology or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of hands-on lab experience
- Strong technical skills at the bench
- Hands-on experience with in vivo techniques, including mouse handling, injection and tissue harvest
- Hands-on experience with cell biology techniques (Western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry) and microscopy
- Strong working knowledge of genetics, cell biology, molecular genetics and physiology
- Experience with histology
- Must be willing to work onsite five days per week

Valuable Additional Skills:
- Experience with in vitro and in vivo angiogenesis assays
- Basic knowledge of biostatistics and coding (e.g. R, Python)
- Experience with histology data analysis (QuPath)
The estimated base salary range for this role is $102,000 - $130,000. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors including experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
