Program Lead, Live Journalism
Live Journalism brings Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal’s trusted journalism, data and business expertise to life, connecting global decision-makers to our brands. We pioneer impactful event experiences and custom programming to engage powerful audiences, build meaningful communities, drive member value, and connect subscribers and clients with the newsmakers and headlines that move the conversation forward.
Reporting to the Director of Programming, the Program Lead will work with the Wall Street Journal newsroom, the Barron’s newsroom, and other Dow Jones publications and products, to research topic and speaker ideas, manage speaker outreach and communications for the in-person and virtual events, and play a critical role to ensure all interviews and talks are produced to the highest of standards.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Dow Jones Live Journalism team in achieving overarching goals
- Stay up to date with the news, both covered by WSJ and its competitors
- Work with the newsroom and product leads to research topic and speaker ideas, and to manage speaker outreach and communications
- Schedule and run regular programming meetings with news editors and product leads
- Be the liaison between multiple teams including the newsroom, marketing, membership, communications, sponsorship sales, sponsorship activation and events
- Manage associated follow-up details and communications regarding the events, such as program schedule and confirmed speakers, with both internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with event host to draft the script
- Work with external production partners who support our events
- Manage all speakers, interviewers/moderators and program logistics onsite
- Support other events onsite, as needed
- Some travel required
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in programming and content creation
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Passionate about content and live events
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working with key internal stakeholders and external partners
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond to deadlines and effectively manage competing priorities
