The Greenberg Bladder Cancer Institute (GBCI) at Johns Hopkins is seeking applicants for a Research Data Analyst position. The GBCI focuses on the research of bladder cancer, bladder cancer which has recurred (sometimes referred to as metastasized) and upper tract urothelial cancer (commonly referred to as UTUC). The main focus of the position is the collection and curation of clinical data from our patients. This role will create new protocols and maintain current protocols in place within the GBCI. These protocols are approved by the Johns Hopkins Medicine Institutional Review Boards (JHM IRBs), who are responsible for protecting the rights and welfare of the human subjects of research conducted by faculty and staff. While maintaining these IRB protocols, other tasks include the maintenance of the REDCap databases (including the task to ensure the clinical data entered is accurate and relevant) and ensuring the proper consenting of patients. Ensuring proper IRB policies are followed by all.Ensuring proper IRB policies are followed by all.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesConduct ongoing data monitoring, data management, and data cleaning.Clean and combine data from internal and external sources to tell a multifaceted story.Visualize data to explore trends and relationships in our clinical data sets.Provide research and analytical support to the GBCI as well as conduct wet lab experiments at the GBCI East Baltimore Campus.Collaborate with other analysts, data scientists, researchers, policy experts, and other technical and non-technical partners.Perform routine administrative tasks, including scheduling and document management.Other duties as assigned.Special Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesFamiliarity with qualitative research methods and knowledge of combining qualitative and quantitative data for analysis.Familiarity with a database system (e.g. REDCap databases including creating, maintaining, and auditing them).Experience translating complex analytical findings into clear summaries for many different audiences.Ability to work with, and understand, complex datasets - including protocols for optimizing data hygiene and working with sensitive data.Ability to fill-in the holes of incomplete datasets with additional data and/or proxies for missing results.
