About Turion Space
Turion Space was formed with the vision of building the technology required for humanity's interplanetary future. Our short-term goal is to solve the most significant threat to that vision - orbital debris. The exponential growth of spacecraft and launch vehicles entering Earth's orbits has dramatically increased the risk of collisions. Even a small number of these conjunctions will lead to the inaccessibility of the final frontier. We are developing the technology to stabilize this threat. This challenge will also serve as a test-bed for future asteroid resource extraction.
About the role
Skills: Windows, CAD DesignAs a quality and configuration manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the quality and configurations of TURION's fleet of satellites and subsystems. The primary duties include owning our in-house configuration management process including ECO's part numbers, and release process. You will also be reviewing and internally auditing technical documents and procedures for build, testing, and operations.
Responsibilities
Responsible for planning and implementing configuration management across multiple programs.Responsible for reviewing and auditing internally generated technical documentsUtilize disciplined technical management processes to establish and maintain the consistency of a product's functional, physical, and performance attributes throughout its lifecycleEnsure that reliable spacecraft and subsystems are being produced with incrementally increasing complexity
Qualifications
Experience with Configuration Management principles, processes, and requirements.Experience working on government or defense programsDegree in a STEM fieldAbility to read and understand technical drawings and specificationsExperience with process controls and system engineering modeling diagrams e.g. SysML
Technology
Spacecraft with an on-board vision system and robot arms for docking maneuvers. Utilizing electric propulsion for moving objects around in space.
Interview Process
We’re looking for engineers who enjoy innovating, iterating, continuous improvement, and exhibit a strong sense of ownership and autonomy. Our small teams of engineers largely define and drive their own roadmap, and use their product sense to define and launch our satellites and subsystems.
Our interview process is designed to find these kinds of engineers. Moreover, we try to ask questions that are relevant to the types of products we build -- mostly hardware, with a bit of database, analysis and firmware.
Phone Screen
This stage is a more informal call to get to know more about the role, and for you to evaluate whether it’s a good fit for you. We are looking for people with a strong interest in startups and motivation to help them; this is usually exhibited by past experience working at or starting one yourself.
Technical Screen
Multiple stakeholders on our team will ask you questions for 45 minutes based on the role.
