About Turion Space
Turion Space was formed with the vision of building the technology required for humanity's interplanetary future. Our short-term goal is to solve the most significant threat to that vision - orbital debris. The exponential growth of spacecraft and launch vehicles entering Earth's orbits has dramatically increased the risk of collisions. Even a small number of these conjunctions will lead to the inaccessibility of the final frontier. We are developing the technology to stabilize this threat. This challenge will also serve as a test-bed for future asteroid resource extraction.
About the role
As Lead GNC engineer you will assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of our satellite's guidance and control systems. You will work closely with the Turion Space team across software and hardware systems while overseeing a team of GNC engineers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of satellite GNC systems
- Software development including simulation framework, environmental models, and flight algorithms
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with a focus on control systems, orbital mechanics, or similar
- Experience developing Guidance, Navigation, and Controls systems on spacecraft
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware and/or software from scratch
- Software development experience in C++ or Python
- Experience developing 6 degrees of freedom vehicle simulations or flight software
- Capable of identifying and solving complex problems with little to no supervision or direction
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Preferred skills and experience
- Experience with low thrust trajectories
- Experience with spacecraft propulsion
- Experience with hardware in the loop simulation
- Experience implementing algorithms for embedded systems
- Software development experience in MATLAB, Simulink, or similar software/languages
Technology
Spacecraft with an on-board vision system and robot arms for docking maneuvers. Utilizing electric propulsion for moving objects around in space.
