Job Description SummaryOrganization Summary Statement:
The IT Programmer Analyst is part of the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) IT Enterprise Application Services team, providing assistance and expertise throughout the entire software development lifecycle. The position reports to the DSA Associate Director for Enterprise Application Services.
The position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and testing custom software and utilities in support of departmental and divisional operations within the Division of Student Affairs. This includes supporting mission-critical IT systems that support 24/7 operations.
These operations include health care, dining, housing, recreation and wellness, student activities, facilities, counseling services, accessibility and disability support, and other critical functions. The incumbent also documents data systems, flows, and application architecture. The incumbent will serve on a team that supports the division's 16+ departments, about 3,000 staff members, and technology assets installed across 3.6 M Sq. Ft of space.
Physical Demands:
Normal office environment - Sedentary work. Occasionally needs to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties.
Preferences:
-A bachelor's degree in computer science is preferred; appropriate coursework or experience with computer programming is preferred.
-A minimum of 2-4 years of work experience in an Information Technology (IT) field and experience programming for direct delivery of programs or services to a client base, including one year of work experience with ASP.NET, C#, and SQL or equivalent, is preferred.
-Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, web application development, web service development, Jira, agile development, Git, GitHub, REST APIs, and database design and development is preferred.
-Work experience in a college or university setting is preferred as well as demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion preferred.
-Ability to interact with non-technical employees and student employees to sustain a collaborative programming setting preferred.
-Ability to follow through on multiple and often simultaneous projects and work under time-sensitive deadlines preferred.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience designing, developing, or implementing traditional client-server or web-based application software.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Knowledge of client-server software and utilities.
Knowledge of web-based application software and utilities.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Google Office Suite.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
