Salary/Position Classification $60,000 contract, Exempt 40 hours per week 100% Remote Work Availability: No Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No Purpose of Position The UND ARCTIC Lab, College of Arts & Sciences, in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Research (AIR) Center (CEM) at the University of North Dakota invites applications for one postdoctoral position to begin in January 2025. The applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree in Communication, Computer Science, Geography, Physics, or a closely related field, and a strong potential to contribute to an internationally recognized research program with sustained external funding, in addition to a commitment to high quality research productivity and undergraduate and graduate mentorship. Duties & Responsibilities Conduct research, perform experiments, analyze data, and present the research outcomes at conferences and agencies. Write reports, assist in publishing papers, submit sections of proposals, and assist in data analysis. Collaborate in research activities as required with faculty and research staff. Mentor graduate and undergraduate research assistants. Maintain close communications with the PIs regarding progress. Required Competencies The candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills, highly developed computational knowledge leveraging data analytics, and be highly productive with a professional work ethic. Minimum Requirements Ph.D. in Communication, Computer Science, or related STEM field Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position supports visa sponsorship for continued employment. Preferred Qualifications High quality publications in one or more areas leveraging big data and artificial intelligence. Post-doctoral and/or Graduate Research Assistant experience Evidence of experience working in large research teams and contributing to publications Experience in one or more areas including (but not limited to) Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (machine and deep learning), Technical Communication, Dataset Processing, and geospatial data competencies. Experience with one or more applications including R, Python/Jupyter Notebooks, Tensorflow, Docker/Containerized Applications, Kubernetes, ArcGIS, LLMs, MATLAB.
