Position Summary

The Praxis Project is seeking an organized, forward-thinking, creative, empathetic individual in the role of Senior Human Resources Generalist (Sr. HR Generalist). The Sr. HR Generalist will be a trusted thought-partner to the HR Team. This individual will have experience in HR and a true desire to advance their career in Human Resources. The individual will report to the Senior Director of Human Resources and under their direction, will serve as the lead front line support for HR matters for our fiscal sponsorship and internal team members. This person will run the high-level daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, with an emphasis on compliance and operations, while helping Praxis to become an employer of choice and while centering both the employee experience and the needs of the organization. This position is a great opportunity to expand team leadership skills across multiple Human Resources disciplines, organizational operations, and fiscal sponsorship, in a creative, dynamic environment dedicated to social justice and health equity! This is a full-time (40 hours per week), FTE 1, benefits eligible, exempt position working five days per week. Exempt employees are expected to work 40 hours per week overall but more than eight hours of work in one day and more than 40 hours of work in one week may be required at times to meet the demands of their position. General working hours are a combination of 9:00 am -5:00 pm ET, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm ET. For example, MWF 9:00 am-5:00 pm ET, T, TH 10:00 am-6:00 pm ET. Schedule preference will be discussed during the interview.

The Sr. HR Generalist position, though remote, candidate must be based in the Atlanta, Georgia Metropolitan area, United States. Occasional, in person, out of state, overnight travel for team retreats and convenings may be required up to 4 x per year. In person team meeting meetings and networking attendance in the Atlanta, Georgia area, may be required more frequently, about 2-4x per month. Since Praxis’ employees work remotely and because there isn’t a local office in the Atlanta, Georgia Metropolitan area, in-person supervision meetings can take place in local coffee shops, various conference spaces, restaurants, etc., and at the discretion of the Senior Director of Human Resources. Reliable transportation and a driver’s license in good standing are also required. This role may also require candidates to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities

Role focus

The Sr. HR Generalist position will assist the Senior Director of Human Resources to provide excellent service to all Praxis employees, will implement Human Resources programming, provide general administrative support in various areas of HR, with an overall goal of helping to make Praxis an employer of Choice!

Human Resources, Compliance & Collaboration

•Serve as the primary source for handling employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

•Respond to requests from other departments for org-wide reporting, and recurring reports.

•Work cross-functionally with the appropriate finance staff to ensure follow through and accuracy with payroll activities.

•Act as the HR point person for following up on outstanding timesheet submissions.

•Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

•Assist the Senior Director in regular audits.

•Support the Senior Director of Human Resources, liaise between the PEO and various regulatory entities to ensure adherence to on time employment filings and compliance standing.

•Stay abreast of and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

•Lead regular research activities on behalf of the team, maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law, communicate updates to the Senior Director of Human Resources, and the HR team accordingly.

•Request and organize necessary employment documentation from FSP contacts, verify consistency between Praxis fiscal sponsorship practices, escalate concerns to Senior Director of Human Resources and the HR team as needed.

•Assist in designing and implementing the Reasonable Accommodation program; fulfill candidate and employee reasonable accommodation requests- ensure candidates, employees, and partners have equitable access to participate in interviews, events, and/or perform their job-related duties.

Employee Relations

•Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

•Participate in conflict resolution mediations between staff, document details, and at the direction of the Senior Director of Human Resources, provide next steps through written reports and in meetings.

Training

•At the direction of the Senior Director of Human Resources, and in partnership with other HR team members and/or respective team leads, facilitate organizational-wide training program, reflecting a diverse range of topics, including introductory and refresher courses, including but not limited to:professional development, HR-related, commonly used tools and resources at Praxis, such as Asana, Box, Salesforce, etc.

•Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

•In partnership with appropriate team members, expand the Organizational Culture & DEIB initiatives.

•Facilitate train the trainer topics and co-contribute to Learning and Development curricula across the organization.

Employee Engagement

•In partnership with relevant team members, facilitate employee feedback sessions and roll-out the bi-annual employee satisfaction surveys.

•Co-create and at times assume the lead role in engaging and creative activities (holiday, recognition, employee of the month, etc.) using the healing justice framework, to boost employee morale, belonging and satisfaction.

•Co-create the In Community with Praxis Lunch and Learn Curriculum, featuring a diverse range of topics, facilitate lunch and learn sessions for staff.

•Maintain anonymous employee feedback forms and provide recommendations to the Senior Director of Human Resources accordingly.

•In partnership with the Senior Director of Human Resources, routinely host HR drop-in sessions, and virtual round table discussions for all things HR.

•Revamp and implement new hire onboarding and orientation program.

•Serve as a backup to HR team members as needed.

Administration & Operations

•Manage employee demographic data work as needed.

•Prepare monthly reports to capture progress and HR outcomes.

•Maintain general HR files and resources in an organized manner, using Salesforce, Box, Google Docs, Asana.

•Prepare purchase orders for the HR department and submit financial reports in a timely manner.

•Advertise job vacancies on diverse job boards.

•Schedule meetings and interviews as advised by the Senior Director of Human Resources, coordinating between Asana and Google Calendar.

•Complete forms for I-9 E-Verify and maintain files, conduct regular audits to ensure organizational compliance.

•Update and develop new HR templates in correlation to HR processes and procedures.

•Contribute to the creation and revision of HR manuals and process documents on an ongoing basis.

•Support in general HR administration, such as answering employee inquiries and processing requests about benefits, enrollments, terminations, and payroll.

•Execute customer service functions, answering calls, and emails in a timely manner.

•Submit background investigation requests and assist with employee background checks.

•Conduct regular audits of payroll, employee status changes benefits, and compile results.

•Maintain employee files and records, request missing information as needed, and update employee profiles as needed.

•Maintain files and templates for performance reviews, mediations, terminations, and on and off-boarding meetings.

•Assist in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding; track status of candidates, serving as the first point of candidates, through hiring completion.

•Review applications for junior-level and non-exempt positions; conduct and/or schedule preliminary interviews.

•In partnership with the Senior Director of Human Resources, provide edits and recommendations for FSP job descriptions.

Contribute to the creation of the HR resource guides, collateral, and employee handbook.

•Proofread and type HR material produced by the department.

•Contribute to monthly newsletters, by providing pertinent HR updates to fiscally sponsored team members and staff.

•In collaboration with HR team members, develop and maintain HR project management workflows.

Qualifications, education, and experience

•At least 3 years of experience in a nonprofit or mission aligned setting with an emphasis on Human Resources, administration or operations is required.

•Experience working in a multi-location organization, strongly preferred.

•Experience working with diverse populations.

•Demonstrated technology skills including, Microsoft Office Suite-PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Suite; experience working with HRIS a plus.

•Ability to analyze/synthesize information and communicate and present findings in concisely.

•Ability to engage and provide equitable treatment to diverse audiences, such as those with different cultural, or ethnic backgrounds, abilities, beliefs, perspectives, values, lifestyles and etc.

•Prior training and facilitation skills required.

•Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, organizational psychology or related field, is a plus!

•SHRM or HRCI certification a plus.
