Operations Specialist

Millennium is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Operations Specialist to join our Operations & Middle Office department. This position will offer exposure to various markets and the opportunity to work between several teams globally in the firm as well as directly with portfolio managers and our Prime Brokers. The successful candidate will have the initiative to seek out opportunities to work on strategic projects and be able to manage them through completion, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency. They will also be on a small team with broad product exposure to various bond products, including domestic and other non-dollar and emerging markets.

Principal Responsibilities:

Handle complete trade life-cycle for several key products including US Treasuries and corporate bonds, mortgage securities, foreign government and corporate bonds and repo trades
Manage settlements Directly in the Bank of New York and with Prime Brokers with an awareness of time sensitive deadlines at the Fed and DTC
Daily liaison with custodian banks, front and middle office at Millennium, counterparties, and other internal divisions with regards to trade confirmation, fails, corporate actions, and other related queries
Cash/Positions/Trade Reconciliations - daily resolution of assigned breaks.
Intraday cash management related to trade settlements with Prime Brokers.
Monthly P&I processing and resolution of issues versus agent banks
Work on operational control and governance related projects to reduce operational risk

Qualifications/Skills Required:

Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline (finance, economics, accounting, etc.)
3+ years of experience at a financial services firm with a preference for experience working at or with hedge funds
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a keen awareness of how to communicate clearly and concisely with portfolio managers and management
Ability to work independently on day-to-day tasks and on assigned initiatives
Previous bond and/or repo experience required
Proficiency with Excel
Well-organized, detail-oriented; able to multi-task and keep track of various deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to quickly digest and apply training receive to real situations

Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. The estimated base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $160,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual's experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
