The way therapeutic opportunities are often evaluated today is through a heavy dose of consultants, hundreds of slides, and ultimately highly fragmented and incomplete information. We believe this high content, low insight process is a core driver of inefficiency in the industry. Maven is building the platform that will allow stakeholders of all disciplines to effectively evaluate therapeutic opportunities.

To start, Maven is building a biopharma commercial intelligence platform which allows corporate development teams to rapidly construct deal landscapes and conduct comparative analyses. Maven empowers users with evidence-backed insights based on their business context. Over time, Maven will add additional knowledge areas to the platform to provide an increasingly comprehensive and accurate assessment of a therapeutic opportunity.

Maven Bio is Y Combinator backed startup that helps biopharma teams evaluate therapeutic opportunities.

As a senior backend engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building our core back-end services.

At Maven Bio, we are building an “AI-native” product. This means that we are deeply infusing AI features and workflows throughout the product to improve our user’s experience.

In particular, we are working at the forefront of building AI-driven pipelines that can automate previously laborious tasks for biopharma teams. Your efforts will directly contribute to the use of AI-driven pipelines to aid in the evaluation of therapeutic opportunities.

Our backend is written in python.

Experiences you may have:

Side projects that demonstrate your affinity for building (please include specific examples in your application materials)
Strong proficiency in Python.
Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and experience with Flask or similar frameworks.
Deep understanding of AI integration and experience managing data-intensive applications.
Proven experience in scaling backend systems in a cloud environment.

Requirements:

In-office work four days per week (Boston, MA).
A strong passion for building robust, scalable software that incorporates advanced AI capabilities.
Interest in or openness to immersing yourself in the BioPharma industry.

Our founding team has deep experience in the biopharma space, and is leveraging that domain knowledge to develop a world-class vertical-specific product. We believe that our work has the opportunity to become a core piece of infrastructure in the BioPharma industry. Realizing our ambition requires sustained focus and lots of hard work. To that end, we work in-person in our Boston office four days per week.

Technology

Our front-end technology stack is: React, Typescript, Next.js, and Tailwind.

Our back-end service is written in Python and has an extensive API service for the front-end to utilize.
