About EG Justice

EG Justice is a small international nonprofit organization that promotes human rights, transparency, and the rule of law to build a just Equatorial Guinea. By working with the people and advocates, we document violations, use legal and non-legal mechanisms to seek redress for those violations, and connect local actors to resources to bring about substantive reform in the country. We see a future where every person has access to food, shelter, health care, education and a safe and sustainable livelihood. We hope to help build a country where human rights are protected, resources and power are shared equitably, and citizens can freely elect their leaders and hold them accountable.

Job Description

We seek an experienced communications professional who is also adept at fundraising to join our small team of dedicated professionals working toward a more free, fair, and just Equatorial Guinea.

The Communications and Resource Development Manager will develop and produce the organization’s communication outputs, including marketing, fundraising communications, reports, policy briefs, and any other written or audiovisual materials. They will provide strategic direction and work with other staff, external partners and stakeholders to cultivate and steward relationships with donors, funders, current and new partners.

Responsibilities:

Communications

Participate actively in setting EG Justice’s direction and focus on communication
Develop strategies for engaging with relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the UN, the US government, and other multilateral and policy-making institutions such as the IMF, the African Union, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and the European Union.
Research, monitor, analyze, and respond to issues that affect EG Justice’s priorities and mission
Draft advocacy statements for public consumption
Create and manage systems to track information about key issues and policymakers
Manage social media posts and achieve robust engagement
Develop and publish a monthly (or quarterly) electronic newsletter

Community Engagement and Partnerships

Organize and engage policymakers and community partners in policy efforts and advocacy initiatives
Maintain effective relationships with relevant leaders and community members

Resource Development

Develop a short and long-term fundraising plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors
Implement EG Justice’s resource development strategy and establish annual fundraising goals
Manage the writing of grant proposals and ensure appropriate and timely grant reporting
Procure new funding and grant opportunities
Oversee the development of marketing materials that support fundraising and partnership development

Qualifications/Requirements

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English and Spanish
Ability to synthesize complex information for target audiences and channels
Ability to create communication that supports the strategic goals of the organization for a variety of platforms, including op-eds, blogs, and social media
Excellent advocacy, coalition-building, and leadership skills
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and adjust to frequently changing demands
Previous communication or fundraising experience, preferably for an advocacy or human rights-focused nonprofit
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and social media platforms
A demonstrated passion and commitment to human rights, anti-corruption, democracy promotion, good governance, or social change
Ability to take initiative, be diligent, and pay close attention to detail
Ability to work in a small team
